link Members of Congress want answers about the government experiments on tissue from aborted babies.
69 members of Congress have signed on to a letter expressing disappointment that the research has been allowed to continue in spite of the pro-life attitude of the Trump administration.
Tara Lee, Ph.D., life sciences director of the Charlotte Lozier Institute, tells OneNewsNow the livers and thymuses of aborted babies are being implanted into mice "to create what are called humanized mice."
"They use these mice to study infection, human response, and to test these therapies and drugs," she continues. "So it is very disconcerting that these babies are being chopped up and sold for parts." Lee
Lee adds that not all humanized mice are bad, as the tissue used for ethically resourced research can be obtained without killing human beings. For example, they can be done by using Peripheral Blood Mononuclear cells, cord blood, bone marrow, and, a published scientific paper now says they can also use the thymus of born babies that go in for heart surgery.
"They actually remove the thymus as part of this procedure, and what this paper showed is that it's actually 50 times more efficient in making these humanized mice," Lee relays.
The administration's aim is to make it more difficult to obtain aborted baby tissue and body parts, but Lee suggests the thrust really is to end the gruesome practice, and her organization is in favor of that.
