Today at work I got into a discussion with one of my co-workers about the love of God. His view was that ALL experience the same love of God, but only those who walk in the light enjoy more of it he is a member of a denomination that believes in works salvation. As I was trying to explain the difference between the believer and the lost man I couldn't help to internally well up with great praise and thanks giving to our Most Loving God. I told Him that it is true that God loves all His creation "in general," but that those that are His, blood washed saints, enjoy a better and more specific love. Another co-worker came up and gave the word that gave me my final conclusion, "in Christ." That's it! We know that the Father loves the Son and that He (Jesus) doeth all things well and in Him there is no unlovely thing. Therefore the love of the Father toward the Lord Jesus qualitatively and quantitatively is far superior to God's general love toward His creation (John 3:16). Because we are "IN" the Lord Jesus Christ and God looks at us through the filter of the righteousness of Christ, we are loved with that high and gloriuous, great and all encompassing love of the Father.
"Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? [shall] tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter. Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us. For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 8:35-39
Thank you, Lord, for your great love. Help us to bathe in the glory and wonder of it, and help us to show it to a world that races towards Hell without it. Amen and amen!
From my heart,
Bro. Ben
