HI, I have a similar situation. My heart has been pricked by the teaching of "plain" and "conservative" circles. I find them mostly to be very biblical and do not wish to bend or compriomise scripture for the acceptance of the world. I have started talking and visiting with a mennonite man up the road and he has asked if my wife and I would like to come over and visit some Sunday and maybe visit their church. My wife would a little more hesitant. I would go just to experience it, and to visit with many godly men women and families and to hear a good strong sermon. I am afraid though that we will get interrogated or something...my wife is starting to see that being covered is scriptural and she has bought material to make a covering, and now we are discussing how the head covering should be worn most of the day.....I dont know how the mennonites will be if she wears a differnt kind of cover than they do when we visit, or if when she takes it off after the service....these are thoughts that are going through my head....any inptu would be greatly appreciated.

I'm sure the Mennonites will be just as curious about what you believe as you will be about them. Remember this, everyone is on their best behaviour when you go to "visit." Don't base your decisions on externals. I recently found out about a Mennonite group not far from me who believe that Jesus Christ did not come in the flesh. Just in case you don't see the significance of this variant teaching, the word of God says, "Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God: And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that [spirit] of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world." (I John 4:2,3) "For many deceivers are entered into the world, who confess not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh. This is a deceiver and an antichrist." (II John 1:7) Labels are easy to print, read the FINE print.
There are probably several valid ideas about what kind of covering and when to where it. We believe it is a grace and not a law and usually Darlene and girls put one on every morning. However, if someone is sick we usually don't make a big deal out of it. I know some wear it only during church, but we are more inclined to see it as an avenue of testimony to the world. Not how great we are, but that we want to make a statement about headship and modesty.

I can't imagine a group of professing believers stating that they don't believe that Christ came in the flesh! How could He have been our sacrifice then?
I see the headcovering as a sign of headship and also a witness to the angels (1Cr 11:10 For this cause ought the woman to have power on [her] head because of the angels. ) and the world. But the reasoning behind wearing it all dy would be because we are to never stop praying or prophesying (proclaiming) through the day. ANyways I look forward to visiting with this Mennonite group. We are not looking to BECOME mennonites, I AM already a folower of Christ , no further title is needed!
