Hab 2:4 Behold, his soul [which] is lifted up is not upright in him: but the just shall live by his faith.
Rom 1:17 For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith.
Gal 3:11 But that no man is justified by the law in the sight of God, [it is] evident: for, The just shall live by faith.
Hbr 10:38 Now the just shall live by faith: but if [any man] draw back, my soul shall have no pleasure in him.
Whether Old Testament or New the message of our Lord has always been, "the just shall live by faith." What does this mean? As I see it, it could mean different things to different people in the way of application, but the root is that all that we do and all that we are is to be dictated by the Lord and His ways. By faith we accept that God's word is reliable.
By faith we accept Jesus Christ as our Saviour.
By faith we accept the righteous commands of God.
By faith we accept whatever the Lord brings into our life, trusting that He can take it and use it to His glory. I remember when I fealt the call of the Lord to prepare for ministry. I was already serving in my local church, but we fealt the Lord would have us go off to Texas to further our knowledge of the Lord and learn under the feet of men of God who were faithfully serving Him. We had no place to land, no job, and no church expecting us. We just loaded up, and moved to Texas. When I got there, I called a missionary I had met and he said when are you coming to our house we have a place for you. I found a nice apartment in the next couple of days, and then the Lord helped me get a good job, that I kept the whole time I was there. You see, I didn't know those things awaited me, but the Lord did. The just shall live by faith. Just as the priests were told to step into the Jordan WHILE the water was still flowing, God asks us to step into His will, with a reliance on His reputation. He can be depended on.
What is God asking of you? Where is He leading you? What service for Him is expected? Fear thou not! The just shall live by faith.
