And sitting down they watched him there; Matthew 27:36 This phrase struck me as I listened to the Bible on cassette as I worked this morning. Are we included in this picture? Behold, the Lamb of God that taketh away the sins of the world! And we...we are bystanders. We, by way the the Holy Scriptures, sit there and watch as they take the Creator God of the universe and nail him to two rough timbers. Deity, nailed to a cross! And sitting down, we watch him there. What are we doing for Christ. Oh, yes, myself included, we have all the right answers, the right look, etc. ad nausium, but what are we doing for Christ. In the words of Pontius Pilate, "What shall I do then with Jesus which is called Christ?" Shall I be saved, have my fire insurance, or shall I take up my cross and be a disciple? Mar 8:34 And when he had called the people [unto him] with his disciples also, he said unto them, Whosoever will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.
Jhn 8:31 ΒΆ Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, [then] are ye my disciples indeed; Have we continued on, or have we sat down at the Beautiful Gate? The world around us needs Christ, not our denomination, our creed, our opinion. Isa 60:1 Arise, shine; for thy light is come, and the glory of the LORD is risen upon thee.Let Him shine forth from thee!

Amen, and amen! How easy is it for us to get comfortable in our little holy huddles and find a nice spot where we can sit on our "Blessed Assurance" when we should be going and following. I'm guilty of saying, "Here am i Lord...send that other guy" when i should be bearing my cross at the very least.
I'm starting a study tonight called, "Sharing Jesus Without Fear" and i'm excited because it will require me to be accountable in my walk and my witness to not just sit there, but to go and be a fisher of men.

Bro. Ben-- Thank you for posting this! I had never noticed that passage before and your application of it is excellent!
Bro. Bob-- I hope you'll fill us in on the study. I've got the "Share Jesus without Fear" New Testament in KJV. It' s a handy size for me to carry to work and it has some of the helps in the front.
I like the material I have seen on it, but I have to admit I was a bit put out when I got the Bible. If you get the Holman Christian Standard Version you get all the extra material in the back. If you get a King James, you just get three or four pages in the front with the program and helps on it. It's still a pretty good program though.
