Psa 126:1 ¶ [] When the LORD turned again the captivity of Zion, we were like them that dream.
Psa 126:2 Then was our mouth filled with laughter, and our tongue with singing: then said they among the heathen, The LORD hath done great things for them.
Likening verse one to either salvation or revival of godly spirituality it is indeed a dream-like state to be right with God and to know He is there and that the heavens are not brass and you can sense the presence and blessing of the Lord.
However, the acid test of our spiritual state, which is VERY pertinent in our contemporary setting, is, do the heathen recognize that God has done a great thing, or do we look and act just like them?
Why should the pastor teach things that make God's people move our of their comfort zone? So they will repent and make adjustments in their lives that make the heathen say, "The LORD hath done great things!"
Why should Christians examine and change where necessary every area of their practical life? So the heathen will say, "The LORD hath done great things!"
Why should parents put their foot down, or draw a line in the sand, etc. about how this family is going to conduct themselves with each other and everyone out there? So the heathen will say, "The LORD hath done great things!"
So I ask you brethren, hath the Lord done great things? I know being saved from an eternal hell is a great thing, but is that all we have done? Are we content only to sit at the Beautiful Gate? Why not go on into Zion, take a look around. Glory in her beauty!
Psa 48:10 According to thy name, O God, so [is] thy praise unto the ends of the earth: thy right hand is full of righteousness.
Psa 48:11 Let mount Zion rejoice, let the daughters of Judah be glad, because of thy judgments.
Psa 48:12 Walk about Zion, and go round about her: tell the towers thereof.
Psa 48:13 Mark ye well her bulwarks, consider her palaces; that ye may tell [it] to the generation following.
Psa 48:14 For this God [is] our God for ever and ever: he will be our guide [even] unto death.
The godly Christian life is to be filled with the bulwarks of the glory and praise of God. Let us so live it, that the heathen will say, "The LORD hath done great things!"
