Hi all again...I found this article and it is filled with a wealth of information...I can't stress enough to you all to please take the time to read this article...It is very long, but well worth the time...you have to stroll down just a bit to get to the beginning of the article...it will answer many questions for those struggling with Movies/Television viewing...Have a wonderful evening...Sis Debbie P.S. This is just a taste of what the article provides: "1. "I will set no wicked thing before mine eyes: I hate the work of them that turn aside; it shall not cleave to me" (Psalm 101:3). This verse single-handedly forbids the child of God to watch the vast majority of the movies and television programs that are made today. Consider just a few of the wicked things that you or your children will see: * The breaking of all of God's commandments * Open and flaunted immorality * Casual drinking and drug usage * Drunkenness portrayed as something funny and innocent * Immodest and sexually alluring dress * Sexually enticing dancing * Violence and mayhem * Casual dating (Parents, do you want your children to date after the fashion portrayed in most movies and television programs?) * Mockery of the things of God * Pagan religions depicted as truth * Occultism, paganism, and New Age error (even in cartoons and in a large number of Disney movies)" "A missionary friend was eating a meal with a pastor and his wife a few years ago when the topic of the movie Titanic (rated PG-13) came up. When the missionary expressed his opinion that the movie is ungodly, the pastor's wife said that they had seen it and had enjoyed it. The missionary asked what they thought of the nudity in the movie, and the pastor's wife said it was "tastefully done." This illustrates how worldly many fundamental Baptist churches have become. If pastors and their wives are enjoying movies featuring extramarital affairs, what are the other members of the church watching! The Bible says the pastor is to be the example to the flock (1 Peter 5:3). WOE UNTO THOSE MULTITUDES OF WORLDLY PASTORS WHO FILL THE PULPITS ACROSS THE LAND TODAY, WHO ARE COMFORTABLE WITH HOLLYWOOD'S CESSPOOL AND WHO DO NOT TEACH THEIR PEOPLE THE FEAR OF GOD AND SEPARATION FROM THE WORLD" www.wayoflife.org/fbns/whatshould-iteach-movies.htmlPlease I pray that you take time to read this very informative article...It just reinforces what Brother Ben and Sister Darlene have been trying to share with us all on this ministry site of theirs.

Dear Board Friends, I did read this article in entirety and give it a hardy amen. I believe David Cloud to be a godly evangelist and a good man. However he made three statements I disagreed with and they are as follows:
It is contrary to the thread of truth to watch television AT ALL because of the ungodly example one makes by watching the t.v. I know families who only have "monitors." This still not abstaining from the appearance of evil
By the looks of the verses in the article I would call this heading: SCRIPTURAL PASSAGES THAT FORBID WATCHING ANY HOLLYWOOD MOVIES AND TELEVISION PROGRAMS.
I don't care who produces them. My point. I was speaking to a pastor friend of mine. He and his family were watching, Sheffie, a film produced by Bob Jones University. Conservative right? In the film Sheffie kissed his wife, a woman who was an actress and NOT his wife in real life. My friends son asked, "Dad, is that his wife in real life?" (Bro. David saw it coming like a freight train,) "No," he replied, "Then why are we watching it?" to which Bro. David said, "You are right, son." and promptly turned off the supposed "godly" movie, and got rid of his t.v. and vcr.
Do you see the point I'm making here folks. Satan is just waiting for you to give the inch, only supposed "safe" videos, etc., and he WILL take his mile...you will see.
Bro. Cloud also said:
In the later Andy Griffith episodes, he took up smoking! Is this what we want our little red headed Opies to do? Of course not. Even Andy Griffith is corrupt. Andy Griffith was a stand up comedian who often made fun of Preachers and the things of God. His name was Preacher Griffith. Not funny!
This godly pastor did not have a television for many years only to find out bringing one into his home had a price tag that went with it. He may not see this, but I do, he has a blind spot in his discernment and now makes allowance for "acceptable" movies, etc.
The conscience is a VERY TENDER and precious gift of God. When guarded, it is the communication portal to Heaven. God is there. His voice, though still and small, leads us through the slippery slope of life. Corrupted, it becomes a frustrating aspect of life when we cannot clearly see or discern the will of Papa, our Heavenly Father.
Pro 4:18 But the path of the just is as the shining light, that shineth more and more unto the perfect day. Pro 4:19 The way of the wicked is as darkness: they know not at what they stumble. Pro 4:20 My son, attend to my words; incline thine ear unto my sayings. Pro 4:21 Let them not depart from thine eyes; keep them in the midst of thine heart. Pro 4:22 For they are life unto those that find them, and health to all their flesh. Pro 4:23 Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life. Pro 4:24 Put away from thee a froward mouth, and perverse lips put far from thee. Pro 4:25 Let thine eyes look right on, and let thine eyelids look straight before thee. Pro 4:26 Ponder the path of thy feet, and let all thy ways be established. Pro 4:27 Turn not to the right hand nor to the left: remove thy foot from evil.
He that hath ears to hear, let him hear!

Thank you Brother Ben for taking the time to read this article and make the corrections...I too was a little taken back by the way he condemed viewing movies and then he actually said he had a television in his home, but then at the end he said they no longer had one at all led me to believe that he corrected his error. But I still am very thankful that you have the insight to catch things that I would look over...thank you again...One thing I did notice that was positive was the fact he said, "Child of God" should not watch, that includes adults and children. Most articles I read explain why your children shouldn't watch tv, but claims that you can as adult. Anyway I enjoyed the article and I'am thankyou for you and sis Darlene...Love you guys...Sis Debbie

I have been more and more convicted about television. Yep, you guessed it we have all those hundred channels or more. I can't stand it.. I don't know what to do because my husband doesn't share my belief on television. I would like to get rid of it completely, that however, is not how he sees things. So, I'd like to start slowly with weaning the children off it.. we don't allow certain things now, magic being a huge one and they mute the 'bad music' we call it devil music here. They must turn their face if they see two unmarried people kiss. however, they haven't asked me if they were married in real life .. yet...
Would it be acceptable to say, no tv until daddy comes home? I'll obviously discuss this with my husband, but I would really like some imput on this.. He is a huge movie person and has even let the children watch PG13 movies.. advice is needed in how to approach this, as getting rid of the television is not going to happen and cable won't get 'lowered' to channels 2-19..

Sister D'Ann, Perhaps your husband will read some of these articles. Let him know that men who are trying to walk with the Lord take a strong stand against the ill the television can do in our lives and in the lives of our family.

One of the worst aspects of TV is the commercials. Some of the things shown on those commercials are downright nasty. The so-called "good" channels even show things that are not even remotely godly. There are many, many commercials for beer and wine. There are commercials which feature half-naked women which is nothing more than what is termed "soft porn." There are commercials which are done by openly homosexual people. My goodness, the list goes on and on.
Sister, I don't understand what difference it will make if the TV is not on until Daddy comes home. The same filth will still be on it. How can it make a difference if Daddy is watching with them? Actually in the realm of my ministry it becomes all the more easy for the youngsters to slip into things they ought not be watching because they are with one of their parents when they are watching.
Most users of pornography had parent(s) who used it. Most alcohol abusers had parent(s) who used it. In fact almost all addictions and strongholds are compounded by the fact the parents either tacitly approved of them or outright indulged in them themselves.
Our minds will become conformed to what they are fed. If we watch the TV or videos or things of that nature our minds will, in a relatively short period of time, become conformed to the things of the world rather than the things of God. In one of the ministries I work in I deal with a lot of children. Every single one of them I have asked, whether they be bus children or "Church" children, spend a lot more time watching TV and movies and playing video games than they do reading their Bibles. In my way of thinking it ought to be equal time with the Bible and the other things just to balance them out. That is to balance them out and does not even start to get us ahead and further us in the Word of God.
There are things which are acceptable on commercial channels now that would only be shown on adult channels a few years ago. My goodness, the language they use is sometimes as bad as what I used to use when I was in the Navy! The cable channels are even worse. I have scanned though some of the listings at times and am amazed at what is shown on the ABC Family Channel as well as some of the "children's channels such as Nickelodeon. Wow!
In Christ, George

quote: Would it be acceptable to say, no TV until daddy comes home?Dearest D'Ann,
I think that is a great idea! You need to start somewhere. You need to wean them off of the TV and feed them healthy things that will strengthen them in a spiritual way.
You also said..... quote: I'd like to start slowly with weaning the children off itThis is great idea too, if you can't get rid of the bad stuff all at once then you should remove it when you can, and be real prayerful about it for the Lord to get involved and really convict your husbands heart in a real way and to open his eyes spiritually. God can surely do that. Pray sister Pray! I'll pray with you.
Much love, ~ sister Darlene ~

Thank you for the encouragement!! I so need it.. I think a small step is better than no step at all right now..
As to if he reads something about this.. well, if I email this to him or printed it and asked him to read it, he feels that I am being his holy spirit becasue i have spoken of my feelings too much.. now it is in Gods completel control.. I can only do what I can while he isn't at home.. so, that is where I will be focusing.. February he starts counceling with the pastor on a regular basis... more in another post. about that!
