These are so much cheaper than the box versions. Since they are "homemade", they only stay fresh for a couple days.
Sweet Almond Milk 1 cup almonds, soaked in water overnight 5 cups water 3 -4 dates, pitted and chopped 2 T. honey (optional) 1 banana (optional for more nutrition) dash olive oil (optional for more nutrition)
Drain almonds and discard soaking water. Blend all together in blender until smooth, 2-3 minutes. Pour through fine strainer. Chill. Serve. 1/2 recipe makes one serving for smoothies or just for drinking.
Rice Milk 3/4 cup brown rice, uncooked 1/4 cup almonds Soak for 3 hours, drain and discard water Add: 4-5 cups water 1 T. honey 1/2 tsp. vanilla 3-4 dates, pitted and chopped (optional) Blend for two minutes. Let sit for 10 minutes. Blend for another 2 minutes. Strain through a fine stainer. Chill and serve.
