Where are the Smith's? Well, they now live in Columbia, TN instead of Murfreesboro. Here's what happened. Sunday morning a week ago (the day before Memorial Day,) I got a call from a friend that went like this: "Is your front door on your new house supposed to be standing open?" to which I replied, "NO.?.?!" He said, "It is." Apparently a friend of his that lives in our new community looked over at the property when he drove by to make sure everything looked o.k. On the way the church last Sunday, he saw the door openned. I told him (via a three way call,) to go up and see what happened, but don't touch anything (for the detectives.)
Someone kicked the basement door open and went inside. I thought surely they took the copper wire, it is full of it. They didn't, but they did steal a new commode tank and bowl, two commode seats, all the sink, tub, and shower fixtures (except one that was already installed,) a vanity top, and a box of electrical supplies (wire nuts, junction boxes, etc.) It was about
$1,000 worth of items (not to mention, they went in the barn about a month or so ago and stold two heavy duty 100' extension cords that did not belong to me.)
Needless to say, we were heart sick. We drove over Sunday and installed a new gate, put up a motion sensor light, posted, "Jake" my trusty black lab, and (I) moved in. I kept some of the children and Darlene, Bonnie (our 16 year old,) and some of the little ones packed and moved us. The actual moving day was Saturday. Friends came from all around with trucks and trailers, and moved us up the new property. The pastor of the plain community that is building our house loaned us a 30 ft. travel trailer to live in until we get done building.
A Christian friend asked what else needed to be done and I told him we need some fence work done in the back pasture becasue we are getting rid of (we sold last night) our two horses and buying a milk cow. We sold all the goats but two, and kept the chickens.
Please please keep us in prayer. It is not an ideal situation. The travel trailer has no A/C and Tennessee Summer is here. Darlene doesn't breathe to well in heat and humidity. There is also a level of discouragment because of the fact someone in our new community has done such a rotten thing to us. Hold my dear Darlene up in your prayers, this is so hard.
However, God's grace is sufficient and we have seen Him do neat things through it all.
