Please pray for me. I found out yesterday that my 3rd and youngest, Alexander, has been put on the autism spectrum. My other 2 children are also on it. Please pray that I will have wisdom when confronted with all of the options that are out there and patience with dealing with the "specialists'. They usually don"t know much and want to medicate to the gills. I do not give my children medication. Pray that God will just heal them. He is the ultimate physician.
thank you, samantha

Ah Sister Samantha, God's Special Children. I believe you will find that since the Lord has chosen to have you be the steward and parent of three of His potentially Special Children you will be rewarded greatly. God does not entrust His Special Children to just anyone.
I believe you will find that your love for your children will be magnified beyond even what you can imagine. You have been extremely blessed if indeed your children are autistic.
I shall of course pray for you that God give you strength, peace and confort.
I have a friend in his 40's that is autistic. He is extremely bright as are so many autistic people. He is also the best sports reporter in our local newspaper. He has two children, both girls, that are brilliant. Their command of the English language, both written and spoken is far beyond their chronological ages.
I am certain the Lord will continue to richly bless you. You may find challenges along the way but that is how we grown. Remember that if God leads you into a situation He will also lead you out of it in ways that may surprise you. He is the source of our strength, our hope and our salvation.
In Christ, George

George, Thank you so much for your kind words. I do in fact have the best children ever. They are not the ones I (usually) need patience with.... the grown ups in this situation however.....lol now there's the problem. We've been dealing with the autism for about a year now with Emily who's 7 and John-David who's 3. The scariest part is that J.D. has no concept of pain or fear. I worry about him hurting himself. With Emily she is also dyslexic and this year has been a trial for her since this is the year, 1st grade, that you are supposed to start reading. it is just such a trial for her. she has NO working memory. That's a big problem. SHe can't remember. She just can't. Numbers, letters, instructions...... but her comprehension when I read to her is remarkable and she so wants to read on her own. I love my babies so much and am so gratefull that GOD gave them to me. samantha

Sister Samantha,
I would like to second what Bro. George said.
I would also like to recommend that you read the book Unraveling the Mystery of Autism... it was written by a mother with a autistic son. This lady shares her experience. Plus natural things that helped her son.
The midwife I apprentice with has autistic twin boys she cares for. She has them taking nutritional supplements and on a very healthy diet. No white flour, no processed foods, no white sugar. Plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables. This makes a huge difference in the boys behavior. I will be praying for you that the Lord will give you wisdom. Blessings to you and your family Lisa

Yes I have heard of a Gluten free diet. This has been said to help many autistic children. The lady in the book I recommended to you put her son on a gluten free casein free diet. She even gives recipes. I have not personally ever tried a diet like this so I am not sure how to go about it other than search it on the Internet. I have heard of gluten free cookbooks.
One suggestion of how to get in touch with other Christian ladies that have gone on this diet is through the keeper at home magazine. They have written quite a few articles on this. They were working on a cook book. Maybe you could check there. Praying for you Lisa
