I recently found that Christian Light Education at www.clp.org has an elective for high school that is listed under home economics and home economics II is how to prepare and sew a covering and also how to prepare and sew a cape dress. I thought I would share that with others.

I think the coverings are the cap style. my daughter tried to follow the pattern but gave up.
she can make the veil types though with a hommade pattern. We bought one of the style we like and she copied it. now we have as many as we want.

For the Home economics books.. We have the first set.. I have loved working through every single one of them.. I still go back to them as I need to.. On the sewing a covering one.. They have 3 different kinds of kapp covering styles.. But they also have a hanging veil pattern too!! I have a friend that has this book and she said that it has way more directions in it so it helped her out alot with making it!! I myself have tried to make a kapp using Erin's way of making.. But I have to have a pattern right out in front of me to be able to make one.. But they are very good friend's with me and she has been able to help me in all kinds of ways.. I am soo excited about her having a baby too!! Hope each of you have a very blessed day!!

New Order Amish I know here use 13" plates as their templates for hanging veils :-) You can always make the template more of an oval shape by just using a compass tool. I have my own hanging veil I designed and hubby prefers me to wear the kapps :-) which I don't sew yet..I have made some in the past but have a friend who makes them for me now.
Blessings, Sister Penny
