Acts 14 : 19, 20
19 - And there came thither certain Jews from Antioch and Iconium, who persuaded the people, and, having stoned Paul, drew him out of the city, supposing he had been dead.
20 - Howbeit, as the disciples stood round about him, he rose up, and came into the city: and the next day he departed with Barnabas to Derbe.
My pastor said some scholars believe Paul could have been actually stoned to death and that he was resurrected because his mission had not yet been completed. Possible ? Could it have happened and the scriptures just don't mention all the details ?

2Cr 12:1 ΒΆ It is not expedient for me doubtless to glory. I will come to visions and revelations of the Lord.
2Cr 12:2 I knew a man in Christ above fourteen years ago, (whether in the body, I cannot tell; or whether out of the body, I cannot tell: God knoweth;) such an one caught up to the third heaven.
2Cr 12:3 And I knew such a man, (whether in the body, or out of the body, I cannot tell: God knoweth;)
2Cr 12:4 How that he was caught up into paradise, and heard unspeakable words, which it is not lawful for a man to utter.
2Cr 12:5 Of such an one will I glory: yet of myself I will not glory, but in mine infirmities.
Could this be Pauls account of what happened to him at the time of his death outside of Iconium? I think so.

May I say that I believe speculating on such things is a waste time? If God wanted us to know this He would have caused someone to write it in the Bible. Speculating on things that are not actually written in the Bible causes a condition of intellectualism and derives itself from the knowledge of man. The Lord said the knowledge on man if foolishness. The Bible also tells us that after we receive the Bible knowledge will cease. That is the knowledge of man.
(1Co 13:8) Charity never faileth: but whether there be prophecies, they shall fail; whether there be tongues, they shall cease; whether there be knowledge, it shall vanish away. (1Co 13:9) For we know in part, and we prophesy in part. (1Co 13:10) But when that which is perfect is come, then that which is in part shall be done away.
To me this is akin to the many people who speculate about the author of the Book of Hebrews. The Bible does not tell us who wrote it. If God wanted us to know that I am certain He would have caused it to be known. Speculating on such things only serves to cause contentions and friction among those who should be acting as the many members of one body; the body of Christ.
My word, I have enough to study to get even a basic understanding of the things actually written in the Bible without being concerned about what if this and what if that.

I understand what you are saying. The reason I brought this up is because I couldn't stop thinking about it after the pastor stated it during service.
I wondered if others here had heard this idea before
What truly counts is scripture ... there are many though who love to look more deeply

That is exactly why I wrote what I did Sister. I believe the Pastor was wasting the time of the congregation with idle suppositions. I do not believe this is the type of thing that should be coming from the pulpit. If this Pastor holds this as a personal belief it ought be addressed as such and probably discussed in private and not before the body of believers.
I mean no malice but I wonder, does your Pastor have such a great knowledge of scripture that he has the leeway to preach his personal inclinations and not the Bible?
