Brothers and Sisters, I come humbly before you asking your consideration in prayer for my health once again. I went to my primary care physician yesterday for a follow-up. During the exam it was found that I now have elevated blood pressure and a rapid heart rate. I believe these may be caused by the cancer meds I have to take but the doctor is concerned.
So now I have to go back to see the vampires at the lab and have them suck out more of my blood so we can check things out. He is also going to have them check my thyroid functions because he said that can cause the problems also. I like to tease the lab techs at the hospital by telling them that over the last 7 years they have more of my blood than I do.
However I am firmly in the hands of God. It is only through His grace and mercies that I have lived these last almost 7 years with this cancer. Prayer is the mightiest tool there is to deal with this even though I have some wonderful doctors and some rather new and modern medications. It is only through and by the will of God the doctors have the knowledge and tools they do have.
In Christ, George

Life is certainly one challenge after the other. My blood work came out fine with a couple of minor exceptions. The biggest plus is that there is nothing wrong with either my heart of my thyroid.
However after struggling with an upper respiratory problem for about 5 weeks and just getting to the point of feeling much better, this past Wednesday I woke up with a bit of a sore throat. Thursday it was quite a bit worse, the glands in my neck were swelling and I was weak and light headed. I talked to my complex care nurse and told her that if I did not feel better by the next day I was going to call my doctor. She told me to call right away.
So I called my primary care physician's office immediately. The receptionist said there were no appointments. So I ran down to her exactly what was going on concerning my compromised immune system and infections and the like. She put me on hold and when she came back on she said the doctor wanted me over there "right now."
Priase God for my doctor. He took me right in. The quick strep test came back negative but they also did the one they have to send out to the lab. He was concerned enough that I got an injection of antibiotics. Now I am taking Keflex for 7 days after the injection.
This morning the soreness in the throat is almost gone. Hopefully I have more energy because I am going over to our Christian School this morning to help empty out classrooms. We are having the carpets done and everything needs to be moved.
I do very much appreciate all of your prayers. They mean a great deal to me. The grace of God and the prayers are what have kept me going.
In Christ, George

Dear Brother George: I know you want to help at the church but should you be engaging in such a rigorous exercise with your immune system compromised as it is? There is a lot of dust in classrooms that can further irritate your respiratory system.
Keeping you in prayer and hope you take it easy.

Dear Brothers and Sisters, in order to try to keep you up to date on my personal health struggles I will try to tell you what has being going on lately.
I have developed some kind of a syndrome which starts out as upper respiratory problems. I get congested and start coughing. Often when I cough it is very deep. When this happens I get cramping pains at the top of my abdomen. The next thing you know I am in the bathroom vomiting. I just got past a period of three weeks of this.
Yesterday I went to my regular doctor to get checked out. I got a flu shot and a pneumonia shot. (I h ave to do that because my immune system is compromised from the cancer and the meds. I had no difficulty with the flu shot. The pneumonia shot really nailed me. By yesterday afternoon my right arm and shoulder hurt really bad and was very stiff. This morning it feels much better but is still sore.
He also told me I might have a partial bowel obstruction. They come and they go. As I thought about it I told my self that makes sense. GIST tumors in the abdomen often push up against other organs without actually attaching to them. Since two of my active tumors are in my abdomen it is entirely possible that when I cough like that it could cause spasms and then the tumors push up against the bowel and I am on my way.
Anyway I have an appointment with my oncologist on October 5. I will discuss it with him. I think it is time for another set of CT scans so we can see just exactly what is going on in there.
Thank you all for your prayers.
In Christ, George

I wanted to update you all on recent events. I have once again suffered from the same syndrome I get periodically. I will not go into details but it is not pleasant by any means. Each and every time the prayers of Brothers and sisters, friends and family help to bring me past it.
I used to ponder whether it is the cancer, the medication I have to take of a combination of the two. Sometime this past week my eyes were opened to what is probably really going on. I also have diverticulosis of the sigmoid colon. I believe now what h appens is that it flares up periodically and causes the illness. The primary reason I believe that is because my last scans showed that the tumors in my abdomen have become necrotic. If there be anyone who does not know the word necrotic or necrosis it means a localized dying of living tissue. In m y case the tumors in the abdomen appear to be dead.
When we can verify that fact we can start dealing with the two on my liver. When I say we I mean the Lord, my doctors and myself. Since the two tumors on the liver are confined to one specific lobe of the liver there are two procedures to consider. In each case the surgery has been 100% successful and there has been no recurrence of the cancer.
It is amazing to me in that I appears the Lord knew that I was coming along with this cancer and He has provided the medical community with many ways to deal with it. His goodness, grace and mercies astound me constantly.
In Christ, George
