We had an incredible experience at Church last night. We held an all mens traditional Santa Maria Style bar-b-q. The Church men were supposed to either bring or invite unsaved, unchurched men to the dinner. We ended p with about 150 men of whom about half of them were quests.
dinner was outstanding and we were well served by the ladies of the Church. They did an amazing job of not only administering the whole event but making certain things went extremely smoothly. On the first serving all of the men were served in about 5 minutes. They also made certain we had as much to eat as we wanted. (Me having lost so much weight during my illnesses ate more than my share.)
After the meal we had testimonies from two of the Church men. They were very moving. After the testimonies we all sand Amazing Grace. Then Pastor Schettler preached a salvation sermon. The dinner was entirely free and Pastor made it clear the Church would not accept one dime in payment for any of it. The illustration being that what Jesus Christ did for us on Calvary's cross is entirely free and there is no way we can pay for any of it. After the sermon he gave the invitation. Would you believe the Lord blessed our efforts in having 12 men accept Christ as their saviour. Praise God for blessing the efforts so largely.
After the dinner I was speaking to Pastor and told him that just one soul would have been worth all the effort and expense but 12, my word what a wonderful thing. One of the men who got saved approached Pastor and I as we were talking. When I found out he was one of the twelve I congratulated him and invited him to Church this morning. I also told him to look for me and we could sit together so he would not feel entirely alone.
I love to give away Bibles and usually have at least one gift and award Bible at my place. I brought one to Church this morning to give to the young man. Unfortunately he did not show up. I shall continue to pray that he and the others may come tonight and if not tonight then next week.
What an incredible experience the Lord provided for last night.
