What do Ted Kennedy and Michael Jackson have in common? An eternal soul.
Recently the death of these two men obviously hit the media. the thing that has saddened Darlene and I are the calous and unkind remarks made about these men. Did they live a life that brought glory to Jesus Christ? No, but does that give the believer a license to say improper things about them? Again, the answer is no. Consider:
Eze 33:11 Say unto them, [As] I live, saith the Lord GOD, I have no pleasure in the death of the wicked; but that the wicked turn from his way and live: turn ye, turn ye from your evil ways; for why will ye die, O house of Israel?
Anyone who thinks the God of the Old Testament was cruel and warlike, as compared to the New Testament, is sadly mistaken. Look at this view of the heartbeat of God. He has no pleasure in the death of the wicked. God knows that they go to an eternity in hell separated from Him. These individual who knew not God or his Christ, were created in the image of God and not made for Hell (sorry hypercalvinists.)
So, before the next big figure passes away who did not bring glory to God, whether rock star, politician, or movie mogul, let's remember to pray that they would heed the last part of that verse:
"...but that the wicked turn from his way and live: turn ye, turn ye from your evil ways"
We stand in the gap, we are the watchmen on the wall. Let our prayers and our clarion call be heard by those near and far, "Jesus saves, Jesus saves!"

Brother Ben you are so right in this, I must say that when Ted Kennedy died the very first thought that popped into my mind was, "Thank goodness." As soon as that vile thought came into my mind the Holy Spirit applied the big 2X4 He carries right between my shoulders. It was entirely wrong of me to take delight in anyone's death. He has a family and friends just as we do. I think the biggest thing now is to pray for the rest of the family. Since to the Best of my knowledge they are all Roman Catholic they need a lot of prayer that they convert to Christianity that their souls may be saved.
In Christ, George

Thanks for this reminder, Bro. Ben. I also did not have kind thoughts upon hearing about the deaths of both of these men.
