Darlene called me and shared this poem our daughter wrote this morning. The American Flag The American flag, it waves long and wide, It stands for our freedom, and boasts of our pride. The beautiful colors, of red, white, and blue, Those beautiful colors should alway remind you, Of the brave men who fought, in their tattered array, Apart from their families, in homes far away. Imagine the pride, and the look in his eye, When Francis Scott Key saw our flag in the sky! It was courage which made them, press on through the day, It was courage that made them, fight the red coats away. That flag they saw, must have been a sight, So big and defiant, it was worth the fight. May God bless our nation, and guide us with care, And may we all fly our symbol of freedom in the air.
