This morning as I was reading my daily Proverb I happened across something that caused me a great deal of conviction. Proverbs 19:8 says:
Please understand at the outset I am not saying that I disagree with the Bible in any way. Far be it from that, this verse caused me to really think deeply.
God has provided me with a certain measure of wisdom. God is the source of all wisdom. (James 1:5) HOwever the verse above from Proverbs states a person who gets wisdom loves his own soul.
Oh how I came to despise what is in my own soul as I read this morning. I came under the conviction that I truly hate the sin that dwells within me! I came under the conviction of what a wretch I really am. C. H. Spurgeon said once a long time ago that we will never be able to have any kind of ability to help others with their problems with sin until we come to hate the sin that dwells within our own souls. I have finally come to that point.
Previously I have been aware of the sin within. I have dealt with it as it rears it's ugly head in my actions and thoughts. However I have not until this point truly despised it. Ah that I would be capable of doing things pleasing to God. But self keeps getting in the way. As I said, previously I just tolerated that self and dealt with it as it came along. I can no longer do that.
Oh that God creates in me a clean heart! I long for the day the trials and struggles will be over. I believe we must all long for that day so that we can be aware and become effective for God in all of His purpose.
In Christ,
George

(Psalms 51:1) <To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David, when Nathan the prophet came unto him, after he had gone in to Bathsheba.> Have mercy upon me, O God, according to thy lovingkindness: according unto the multitude of thy tender mercies blot out my transgressions.

(Psalms 51:3) For I acknowledge my transgressions: and my sin is ever before me.
