I went to see my oncologist yesterday. He said that outside of my extreme levels of fatigue things looked well. I am going to go in after the first of the month for another set of CT scans.
The thing that concerns me is my blood pressure. The medication I take for the cancer can cause elevated blood pressure levels. The last time I went to see my General Practitioner and yesterday when I saw my oncologist my blood pressure was up. The oncologist wants me to keep a log by going to my pharmacy once a week or so to get it checked on the machines they usually have in their waiting areas. Then next month when I go in for my follow-up after the scans we will address it again.
Please pray my blood pressure does not go any higher and also pray for wisdom for my doctors in dealing with the situation.
In Christ, George

Let me give you a bit of an update. After much prayer and thought and thanks to the suggestion of a very important person in my life I decided to not wait and went to my Primary Care Physician this morning. One of the deacons at Church gave me a monitor for my blood pressure that I have used morning and evening for a few days. Thanks to that and the fact my blood pressure was rather high when I went in this morning he decided to start medicating the problem right away. He also showed me that I have an increased heart rate which is also a side effect of my cancer meds. The medication he gave me is supposed to work on both the blood pressure and the heart rate.
I am so thankful the Lord has given me some wonderful and caring doctors and also appropriate medications to help keep my health problems in check. I can not imagine how an unsaved person could handle going through the things I have in the last eight years.
In Christ, George

Well brothers and sisters my visit with my oncologist yesterday did not go as well as I had been hoping and praying for but it could have been a lot worse. The latest scans show that over a period of five months from my previous set of scans there has been minor progression in the size of the active tumors. The doctor said that factoring in the amount of progression and the time you cold consider that I am stable. Stable is a good thing!
However he is putting me in for what is called a compassionate use for a new mediation. The reason for the extra paperwork is that this medication has not been officially approved by the FDA for this type of cancer but is widely used by GIST patients in an off-label status and that with many good results. He said he believes we may get approval for use of the new meds within about two weeks.
Please continue to pray about my health. It is greatly appreciated.
In Christ, George

Well Brothers and Sisters, it is that time again. I am scheduled to go in for more CT scans this Wednesday. Then Thursday I will go for the appointment with my oncologist to see how I am doing. I am somewhat apprehensive about this round of appointments. I was having such a difficult time with the side effects of the new medications the oncologist put me on that he discontinued it. I have been without any medication for the cancer for about 5 - 6 weeks now. Fortunately this is a very slow-growing type of sarcoma so if there is any progression it will most likely be small.
It sounds sort of silly to say I am apprehensive because I put the whole thing in the hands of the Lord and my doctors a long time ago. Yet the flesh kicks in anyway. It is a well known tool of the enemy to cause doubt and fear.
(1Co 14:33) For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as in all churches of the saints.
Based on that verse alone since there is apprehension on my part it is not of the Lord. The Lord provides peace. I must continue to pray for that peace and I ask that you join with me.
In Christ, George

In prayer with you, Bro. George, as the Lord does his work of perfection in your life.
Hbr 13:20 ΒΆ Now the God of peace, that brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great shepherd of the sheep, through the blood of the everlasting covenant, Hbr 13:21 Make you perfect in every good work to do his will, working in you that which is wellpleasing in his sight, through Jesus Christ; to whom [be] glory for ever and ever. Amen.
