The vicar of a village church in Hertfordshire, England has told his congregation they should start swearing and cursing if 'Christianity is to be taken serious in the 21st century'. He reportedly told his congregation about a time when he used swear words in rage against another car driver who committed a minor road offense. He even went on to attack Jesus, by saying we should not view Jesus through 'tinted spectacles' nor 'place Jesus on a pedestal' because He 'liked to swear'. The vicar, 67-year-old Michael Land, calls it 'modernization of Christianity'. ...and people ask me why I don't go to the Church of England and their cathedrals

Bro. Steve is there anywhere in your area that you can go to church at and here the truth preached?

Hi Sister Lisa, sadly the city in which I live [Bradford] has degenerated into a very sorry state of affairs.
I know of only 2 Baptist churches, neither use the KJV and both are extremely liberal, baptist-union types.
The local 'United Reformed' church has a woman pastor, and believes in infant baptism, and the like.
Apart from the Church of England cathedral, and a few Catholic churches, there really is nothing left... Islam however, is flourishing here - I heard on the radio there's almost 100 mosques in Bradford now.
My place of work faces closure within the next year, so I do have some hope of moving to a place where I can find some good solid preaching and fellowship. Only time will tell...

Brother Steve, if there are any like-minded believers near you have you given any thought to home Church? There are a number of people here who either are of have been involved in home Churches. I am certain they would be more than willing to answer any questions or provide any information to you that they can.
I shall add you to my prayer list not only for a good Church situation but also for your job situation. Who knows, the Lord may want you in a different place for His good purpose.
In Christ, George

If you can't find some believers that meet in a home, perhaps you can come on across "the pond" we'll fix you up.

Hi Brother George; your prayers are always gratefully appreciated and I should like to wish you all the best with your own health situation. I think a small home church would be ideal, but again; I'm not aware of any that are established. I do know several people further south in the country who I have regular communiqué with, but efforts to meet people in the north seem to be in vain. Actually, I'm quite a shy and quiet person anyway [at least until I get to know people!!], and maybe that doesn't help. If you can't find some believers that meet in a home, perhaps you can come on across "the pond" we'll fix you up. Indeed Brother! I must admit, it has crossed my mind before. I do know of people in various states, including Arizona and Kansas, and I'm sure I'll visit sooner rather than later! But I'm not a very 'well-traveled' person, the furthest I've been on my own is 90 miles to the west coast, and the furthest I've been with friends is 400 (ish) miles to the south coast - of course, these figures are dwarfed by a 6,000 + mile trip to the US! It speaks volumes for England that I know of more Christian brethren in another country than what I know at home...! Anyway, I'm not one to dwell, onwards, upwards and always smile! How does the old hymn go... 'All the way, my Savior leads me, what have I to ask beside?'Bro. Steve

Bro. Steve, Here is a link to some "pro" house church people in the UK. I do not know who they are, but perhaps some dialog would result in contact with a house assembly that is more careful regarding a holy life and use of the KJV. Focused on the KingBen

Brother Steve I think this is very sad. I will be praying for you that the Lord will direct you to some Godly fellowship. I know our church supports two missionaries in England but that may be the same as your telling me you know of some good churches in America? Blessings Lisa

Thanks for the link Bro. Ben, again I see that those little groups are in the South / South East. England is quite strange in that throughout history most of the 'strict' or 'particular' baptists abounded in the South-East and even today there are some KJV only independents in that region. I note that the Gospel Standard Trust is based in the south-east and Sovereign Grace holds meetings at various places around south coast.
Can I / Should I simply move 'down south'? I'm not convinced it would be a wise move at this point. The cost of living is seriously higher in the south, and work is hard come by.
I don't want to run the risk of sounding too judgmental or criticizing any church or house fellowship unfairly; but there are some things that I must insist on, such as the use of a King James Bible: it is, as the Latin goes, a 'sine que non'.
Sometimes I feel a little bamboozled, but with much prayer, I will trust the Lord to lead me through whatever change is necessary, and in the mean time I should preach the word right here on the streets of Bradford.
As an aside; my Sunday evenings have become quite pleasant. A Brother has used the web to set up some fellowship time using webcams and skype so a few of us can interact in that way at a set time each week. It's only been going for 3 weeks, but it is something I can look forward to!
Bro. Steve.

I didn't realise Jesus swore... or was the guy just making that up? My father left the Church of England when he was about twenty because he felt that some were too 'commercialised' and others just went to 'keep up appearences'.
When we visit the old country, we go to a Baptist church in town. But once again, that's in the south (five miles further south and you're on the isle of Wight).
I'll be praying for you to find a good bible-founded church near you. I understand that you don't want to move south because of the cost of living - that's why my family moved to Australia after all.
Thank the lord for the brother who set up the communications on the internet - if any of those you speak to that way are near you, perhaps you could set up a house church near you?
From Rachel.
