Hello,
I usually go by TaxiMom but I did read Bro Den about names so you can call me Sister Debbi. Since my husband isn't a member on here it wouldn't do me any good to tell you that I am LarryB wife because you'd have no clue as to who Larry B is. LOL!!!
Anyways I am a Wife of 22 years. A mom to three teenagers and I have four childern in heaven I didn't get to meet yet. I live in Central OR and my family and I currently attend a liberal Friends (Quaker) Church. I am a dress/skirt (mostly), KJV only, Headcovering Baptist at heart born again baptised believer. I have not cut any significant length off my hair in 7+ years except for my bangs and to straighten the back because it was uneven and scragley looking to my family.
I do work outside the home at my husbands request because He is a Type1 Diabetic with an insilin pump and I have a rare systemic auto immune disorder called Behcet's disease. I work outside the home so we have the medical insurance my husband thinks we need.
I was raised in a conservative Baptist Church growing up and before things like health and the economy went south, I attended a IFB church with my husband. It was about an hours drive fromour house. My husband is practicle and in charge of the finances and desided driving the hour to church was a waste of money when there is a perfectly good church a block away. I have peace with this now as I can worship God and learn the bible teachings anywhere.
The reason I signed up to this forum is because I have struggled with controling issues due and headship issues in my life due to child abuse and God brought me to a place of healing and teaching where He asked me to cover my head.
My husband went along with this for about 2 years then asked me not to cover full time anymore because my long hair is now my biblical headcovering. I dissagree so my husbands allows me to to cover at home and discreetly ie a small bun cover or headband or scarf that doesn't look too religous. (his preference).
Since he is in law enforcement I don't want to embarass him and so I find covering that are simbolic enough for our Lord to understand I am willing to be faithful to his teachings and in priviate I wear my full head veil or snood.
As you may have guessed my husband and I are unevenly yoked in most spiritual matters. I truely don't know if he is saved but I am not the judge of that. I just don't want to cause strife between us so we find ways to compromise according to how we see the scriptures teachings. I will continue on my journey and let him be the leader in our home. I will step back and let him take control which isn't easy for me but it is getting easier.
In my spare time I blog at blogspot.com. (I won't publish my site because I am not certain of the forum rules on such things!) I love to take pictures (I don't like my picture being taken though!). and I post alot of them on my blog.
I love animals I have four dogs, two large two ankle bitters. Two cats a dove and cockitiel. I have a rose garden, and veggie garden although I don't have a great green thumb it is a great spring/summer hobby. I am crocheting a blanket for my daughter my first non scarf project. I just taught myself how to crochet this past winter. When my hands and fingers won't work because of a flair up from the Behcet's I like reading Historical, Amish, true life christian novels and most importantly I read scriptures daily.
My three kids used to keep me very busy running them from place to place and that is why my nickname is TaxiMom! Now that My oldest is 20 and going to college to get a degree in Firefighting/EMT, my daughter who is just shy of turning 18 and graduating high school, and my youngest who just turned 16 my taximom days are over and we are entering the "empty" nest stage of life.
I love cooking! I just am not good at the cleaning up part and I always make way to much accourding to my family! I am a homemaker at heart and would love to be a stay at home mom/helpmeet again someday.
I used to be really involved in church stuff. Chior, playing my flute, helping where ever needed but with the Behcet's as active as it is has slowed me down a lot.
Because I a non exsistant immune system I have to be careful coming in contact with germs, illness, and things like that so I don't go to church services a whole lot exspecially if I know it is going to be crowded.
What I am looking for from this group is fellowship and inspiration from like minded folks. To be and inspiration to and encourager to those who need it.
Thank you for reading this short book! If you have any questions just let me know.
Prayerfully Yours
Sister Debbi
