What are you all doing for Thanksgiving? We plan on just cooking dinner here. Shannon, my eleven year old will be making the pumpkin pie and we will be experiementing using a ready made graham cracker crust. I have never used that type of crust for a pumpkin pie before so it should be a yummy pie. We have no plans to go anywhere or have anyone over this year. Of course there is always the unexpected guests that pop over.

My family (and I, too, if I'm up and around) plan to spend Thanksgiving with two other missionary families and a Guatemalan pastor & family. Our Thanksgivings down here always look a bit like the first Thanksgiving... some pale-faces and some brown-faces There will be pumpkin pie, and I thought I'd make a peanut butter pie, too, since my Dad is here. (He loves PB.) And our family has it's own tradition as well: banana pudding. I think the graham-cracker crust will make a delicious pumpkin pie, Regina! I've tasted something like that, but I think it had cream cheese in it.

I like pumpkin pie (Yummy) We are going south, but will try to make it back in time for dinner at my mothers. My daughter and her husband will be there and my sister. Small place, but momma always finds room for more...
I hope you ladies have a joyful Thanksgiving...

Our oldest son, Benjamin is coming down for the weekend so Darlene and the girls are putting on the fatted calf. they are making turkey, spiral cut ham, apple crumble pie, pecan pic, green beans, spinach cassarole, sweet potato cassarole, rolls, several little appetizers, and other things I can't remember.
Yum! ;D

Wow, what a feast! I'll bet Darlene is a great cook, especially with her assistants in the kitchen with her. What a blessing for you, to have Benjamin home. Have a blessed Thanksgiving!

It's a bit late, but I thought I'd report on what my family and I did for Thanksgiving. We didn't have anyone over, just me and my wonderful spouse/soulmate. We had invited a lot of friends and family, but none could make it, and we couldn't travel because we blew our travel budget for the year on plans to visit family in France next month. So it was just us (no children yet), which was fine, since Thanksgiving weekend was our nine-year anniversary. So I pretended that a dozen people were coming over, and I made dishes that would satisfy them all with both amount and variety. We're still eating them today, and our freezer is FULL. I may not have to cook again until after we get back from France! Our Menu: * Moroccan style turkey tajin (sometimes spelled tagine) with couscous and LOTS of vegetables * Fresh salad: cucumbers, tomatoes, bell peppers, olive oil, lime juice, salt, pepper, fresh basil (that's the last time this salad will taste good; now that winter's set in, the cucumbers will be tasteless and bland until springtime) * Stuffed pumpkin with brown rice, cashews, and mushrooms * Sweet potato pie from my great-grandmother's recipe, may she rest in peace, but with 'lite' soy milk instead of heavy cream * Cranberry Sparkle -- equal parts cranberry juice and plain seltzer water, just as festively colorful as wine, but suitable for those who don't drink wine There were other dishes, but we elected to put them in the freezer for the times when there just is no time or energy for cooking after working a full day. We played music that I've downloaded from iTunes and other such sources to create festive ambience. Our cats got little tidbits of turkey so they could feel thankful, too. It was a very quiet celebration of togetherness, only dressed up by using the good dishes, pretty crystal from our first year together, and of course some lit candles.

Divash, your Thanksgiving sounded so nice! I thought you might enjoy a few pictures from our Thanksgiving. We are a little cramped in our home, because we have boxes everywhere, we are getting packed to move into our new home that's being built. The Lord blessed us and we had a wonderful time of food, and family fellowship. A good memory for us all.For brunch we had 3 sharp cheddar cheese broccli quiches. We also had coffee and hazelnut creamer. Yummm!
It took a while to get the meal finished, so for mid day we had appetizers. turkey sausage balls, sharp cheddar cheese cookies, celery, and homemade danch Dip, coffee with hazelnut creamer, and hot tea...Just a snack to hold us over. We decorated with gold table clothes, fall leaves, candles, china and glassware, it was so fun decorating and getting everything ready. We had turkey stuffed with cornbread stuffing, spiral cut ham, whole cranberry sauce and jellied cranberry sauce, whole steamed red potatoes, fresh cooked green beans, spinich cassarole, sweet potato cassarole, potato rolls, 2 pecan pies (Ben's favorite), and a apple crumble topping pie.
The only thing we did not have that I had planned on making was pumpkin soup. I was going to serve this in pretty bowls for starters. But I was unable to make it because time ran short. Maybe next year! Something to look forward to. I had delicious pumpkin soup at a tea house in Dixon Tn. ''Mrs. Mables Tea House.''

I forgot to mention that we had orange spice ice tea, and I didn't mention the turkey gravy ( it turned out extra good this year), and we made the cutest card stock name plates with fall leave stickers. I'll try and post a picture. We did not have them in the pictures I posted.
Have a great day!
