The Lord seemed to impress upon my heart to those whose heart are crying for revival, but feel defeated in regards to personal struggles and besetting sins. This is what I sensed from the Lord.
1. Remember the secret place:
Psalm 91
[1] He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.
I know we all are busy, but don't forget to meet God in the morning, if at all possible (I know some work shift work, make your meeting with God, when you arise for YOUR day.) If we neglect this, we leave home powerless. It is better to ask for help in the morning than forgiveness in the evening. Amen?
2. Weep your way through the scriptures:
John 15
[3] Now ye are clean through the word which I have spoken unto you.
Eph. 5
[26] That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word,
Judges 2
[4] And it came to pass, when the angel of the LORD spake these words unto all the children of Israel, that the people lifted up their voice, and wept.
Don't do "mechanical" reading. I know it is a noble thing to read through the bible in a year and such, but go, perhaps, to the Psalms, and SLOWLY READ AND PRAY your way through scripture. Don't just intellectually take it in, let the individual words slowly seep into your soul and meditate, SELAH, (that's what that means,) on what your reading.
Example:
Psalm 51
[1] Have mercy upon me, O God, according to thy lovingkindness: according unto the multitude of thy tender mercies blot out my transgressions.
"Have mercy upon me, O God. . . " I need your mercy. You know my heart. It's far away (or you know how I struggle, ) ". . . according to thy lovingkindness. . . " Lord, if it wasn't for your lovingkindness, I'd perish. Thank you, Lord, praise you! Lord, with they tender mercies, blot out
MY TRANSGRESSIONS.
Do you catch my drift? Come clean, like David did here. HE DID NOT MAKE EXCUSES FOR HIS SIN. That's why God called him, (even though a murderer,) a man after his own heart.
[2] Wash me throughly from mine iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin.
[3] For I acknowledge my transgressions: and my sin is ever before me.
[4] Against thee, thee only, have I sinned, and done this evil in thy sight: that thou mightest be justified when thou speakest, and be clear when thou judgest.
See the transparency? It's golden! Don't trade it for anything. Nothing short of clear, clean, thorough repentance will do.
Weep your way through your repentance. It's precious.
Psalm 39
[12] Hear my prayer, O LORD, and give ear unto my cry; hold not thy
peace at my tears: for I am a stranger with thee, and a sojourner, as all my fathers were.
Psalm 51
[5] Behold, I was shapen in iniquity; and in sin did my mother conceive me.
[6] Behold, thou desirest truth in the inward parts: and in the hidden part thou shalt make me to know wisdom.
[7] Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean: wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow.
[8] Make me to hear joy and gladness; that the bones which thou hast broken may rejoice.
[9] Hide thy face from my sins, and blot out all mine iniquities.
[10] Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me.
[11] Cast me not away from thy presence; and take not thy holy spirit from me.
[12] Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation; and uphold me with thy free spirit.
This is a good one, I highly recommend it as a "spiritual bath" place.
NOTE: Remember that your are ACCEPTED in the finished work of Christ on Calvary.
Eph. 1
[6] To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved.
You might be struggling, or even have been WILLFULLY sinning, but Christ is not a big cosmic brat, mad at you and vindictive.
HE IS HOLY. Don't play games.
But remember, he knows our frailty. Let's rise up and go beyond.
2 Cor. 7
[10] For godly sorrow worketh repentance to salvation not to be repented of: but the sorrow of the world worketh death.
This verse is often used out of context regarding salvation, but it is not about salvation it is about repentance. . . coming clear before the Lord. Read it!
[11] For behold this selfsame thing, that ye sorrowed after a godly sort, what carefulness it wrought in you, yea, what clearing of yourselves, yea, what indignation, [toward the world, the flesh, and the devil,] yea, what fear, [proper righteous fear of the Lord,] yea, what vehement desire, [to live clean before him, in a spirit of revival,] yea, what zeal, yea, what revenge! [you did evil for pleasure, NOW, with zeal and HOLY VENGENCE, live for Christ!] In all things ye have approved yourselves to be clear in this matter.
Remember you brethren in similar afflictions.
Pray for one another.
Focus on Christ and Christ alone.
Remember we love you, too.
Heart yearnings, from a pilgrim brother,
Ben
