Hi everyone. I'm a 21 year old young woman who currently lives in central Illinois. I was so excited when I stumbled across this page. I've been struggling with the concept of head covering for a long time but have constantly been discouraged from doing so by pastors, family, friends, and other people. This board has already been an encouragement to me as I have begun covering and growing out my hair (3 weeks now) without any support from the people around me (which is a very nice way for me to phrase it).
Aside from that, I guess things to know about me would be that I am originally from Virginia (and will be moving back there in August 2013). I will be going to school for elementary education and I am very excited! I have spent the last couple of years teaching in a small private school to make sure that this is something I want to do and I'm sure I'll gain some knowledge I can use when I have children of my own so it's a win/win. I grew up in a non-Christian family where church attendance was not allowed so a lot of my theology came from reading the Bible. That worked out in some areas (like reading 1 Cor. 11 and thinking "well, I guess I better start doing that" and knowing without a doubt that evolution and the Bible were mutually exclusive and that the Bible was right) and not so well in others (i.e. reading Proverbs 31 and stressing out about how I was going to make my own clothes, go into real estate, and start wearing lots of red).
Anyway, I'm sure I'll get to know people better as time progresses and you all will learn more about me. Like I said earlier, I'm very excited about the opportunity to connect with like-minded people. As a young, single woman trying to live biblically and now throwing changing my outward appearance into the mix, it is amazing to confirm that I am not alone. Now, if I could just find a church in Virginia...
...Well, it never hurt to pray
In Christ
