Another effort to pervert the message in the Bible. Be wary of false teachers.

Liberal seminary urges Dems to start using 'God talk'

A Christian organization is telling Christians to beware of the abuse of scripture by some politicians. The antidote is to become knowledgeable about the Bible.
Union Theological Seminary in New York hosted a "Congressional Faith Orientation" in Washington, DC, last week. Several Democratic members of Congress attended and it was suggested that Democrats start using "God talk" just like many Republicans. John Lomperis of the Institute on Religion & Democracy tells OneNewsNow this conference seems to be geared toward serving the interests of the Democratic Party.
“Since the seminary does not stand for historic biblical Christianity, they need something else to stand for,” he explains. “And with hosting an event like this, it seems that the seminary has decided that what it stands for is little more than being an intellectually shallow, subservient pawn for the left wing of the Democratic Party.”
Lomperis suggests that twisting scripture to suit one's political argument rather than God's stated view could be described as blasphemy. However, he says, Christians can avoid being taken in by politicians misusing scripture.
“I think that, first of all, we need to be very clear that we understand the scriptures ourselves and are studying them daily,” he says. “And second of all, realize that our political system is what it is, and politicians want votes by what means they think they can get them - but their claims should be viewed with a certain degree of skepticism.”
Lomperis says it was especially offensive that Missouri Congressman Emanuel Cleaver, who is an ordained minister, justified federal funding for Planned Parenthood by quoting scripture.
