We used to attend a Mennonite church-we started at a COGICM (Holdeman) but then switched to a "white cap" one. The Holdeman one was not very modest and quite luxurious in many ways. The largest problem we have with the "white cap" churches, is that in every one we see in the Statement of Standards that they will take the word of a brethren over the word of a non-member. As we would be non-members for awhile before possibly joining, we have had this be an issue in the past. Also, most are unwilling to allow members to homeschool, which we do.
What kind of church would fall into this group that I am looking for? Headcovering and modest, simple lifestyle, allowing of homeschooling using acceptable curriculum (if they have a church school that is fine, we have no problem with that, but we want to continue homeschooling our children)...traditional, old-fashioned? Is there anything like that?

Since you're already familiar with Mennonite principles, you may want to consider a Beachy Amish Mennonite congregation. They come close to what you're describing. Here's a webpage that will help you locate a congregation near you. You can also read about their beliefs at that website. Even if they aren't for you, they can help you find what you seek in a congregation as they know just about everyone. www.beachyam.org/locate.htmAs for taking the word of members over non-members: you'll find that all churches do that especially in this day and age when there are dishonest non-members who often come with a malicious intent. The early church did the same. Persecutions are always creating that kind of caution. If you find a congregation that you're comfortable with then do your best to be obedient and open in heart and mind to learning their ways.
