Bro. Randy, I do see the hanging veil (sometimes black, sometimes blue) in different areas when we travel in Guatemala. In the Mennonite church in our area, however, the ladies wear white caps. It does seem like it would be harder to keep clean, it's so dusty here during the dry season! Sis. Tammy

I noticed some of the Hispanic Mennonites (I think there Hispanic) wear the black cap type of covering. a friend wears hats and another,(her daughter) wears the triangle type. it is very humid where we live. I also wanted to say thank you for the pattern.
I am trying to figure out the best type of clothe because Cotton is stiff, but better for this humidity. It is VERY humid in summer.

We wear a white sheer scarf, it is very light weight and cool in the hot summer, and it hangs very nicely, even when the wind blows it doesn't stand up stiffly, but it continues hanging nicely.
There is a nice hanging material you can by called peach silk. It comes in different colors...white, off white, blue, black, and probably other colors. It would make a nice covering that would hang nice. It would be a little heavier than the scarf type we wear.
Blessings!

Sis Darlene, I think the coverings you and your girls wear are beautiful! I kept forgetting to ask you, what are the dimensions? Where did you get the scarves? Sis Tammy

I notice they hang gracefully, it looked like your hair was up, do you think it is better to have it pulled up? I am not sure on this, but I have long hair and do not know how to put it in a bun, I could practice...

I'm not very good with bobby pins, so I make a cheater bun. Braid the hair all the way down, wind it into a flat bun at the base of my head, then clip it all around with medium-size claw clips. (I only need three.) Works for me! Sis Tammy

Dear kscarle ( is your name Kristi? I wasn't sure),
We really like this type of covering. We do put our hair up. It is very long and we have thick hair, my daughters hair is even way thicker than mine. I braid my hair, then I pull it up then put a Lg barrette at the bottom then wind my braid around and around in a oval type bun, the I put a Lg barrette at the top. It makes a nice bun for me. I noticed some Mennonite sisters in Pa did their bun like that. It works for me. My daughter has her very on style of bun, it works very well for her and her big head of hair.We call her braid an Anaconda. ;D Beautiful hair that girl has.
Blessings sister!

Yes it is Kristie, sometimes people don't like their thick hair but its pretty and thin hair (like mine) seems to slide out of barrettes...Funny name, anaconda
