I had heard of Christian women covering their heads a few years ago but I figure you had to be Amish or Mennonite so I dimissed the whole idea.
The Lord started planting a seed around May 2005 when I had the opportunity to visit the website of a very ill young girl who has EOS disease and this girl wore a headcovering. I thought that's nice, her denomination wears headcoverings. There was a link on her site to Charity Christian Fellowship so I checked it out. I "accidently" came across a link on the site for an online book called Let Her Be Veiled. I read through this from beginning to end and was fascinated by what I read regarding 1Cor 11:1-16 but I really wasn't sure. I decided to send some friends from a egroup I was in to the site to read the book and they felt it was false teaching.
I however wasn't convinced but I put it on a back burner to think about later.
In August of the same year I was getting ready to go on a Christian family retreat and I knew that a lady who covers would be there and the subject of headcovering came up again with my friends in this same egroup and the same anti-covering posts would come up. I knew God was trying to tell me something. So at the retreat I finally got up the nerve to ask this woman why she and her daughters wear a headcovering and she explained she was obeying 1Cor.11:1-16 and that it was a sign of submission to her husband.
So that evening I spent sometime reading 1Cor 11:1-16 and the next night I read more and wrote down questions. I spent sometime over the next few days praying and reading the scriptures but I knew the Lord wanted me to cover my head.
I asked my husband how he would feel about it and I explained why I wanted to cover and he gave his blessing.
I've been covering now since September 2005 and my prayer life has improved 100%. My husband has noticed the change in me and he is totally supporting me. He even decided to read a hard copy of Let her Be Veiled and is convinced that the covering is for today and not some old custom.
I pray that all who read my testimony will be blessed and encouraged.
