Wow! I guess everyone put feet to their convictions! Wal-Mart Says It Will Not Make Corporate Contributions To Support Or Oppose Controversial Issues Send Wal-Mart a "Thank You" for its statement. You have made a difference! Wal-Mart has announced it "will no longer make corporate contributions to support or oppose controversial issues unless they directly relate to their ability to serve their customers." AFA is pleased with this announcement. Wal-Mart made the announcement Tuesday afternoon. In response to Wal-Mart's statement, AFA has decided to cancel its efforts of encouraging people to not shop at Wal-Mart or Sam's Club this Friday and Saturday. We believe that Wal-Mart will remain neutral in cultural battles. Click here to see the Wal-Mart announcement. Please send Wal-Mart a "Thank You" for its statement. Does anybody know if this announcement means Wal-mart is for sure disassociated with the gay chamber of commerce, too? I have not set foot in a Wal-mart since our return to the States because of this controversy, even after hearing that they announced they would make no more contributions. The damage was done, and even though they seemed to acquiesce to us crazy right-wingers, I wanted to make sure they "felt" it on the biggest shopping day of the year. (Not that they will miss my $20, but it's the principle of the thing.) Wal-mart was always my favorite place to shop, and many times I have thought how nice it would be to have one in Guatemala. Because of this controversy, I found out there are lots of good deals elsewhere, too. Wrong move, Wal-mart! Sam Walton would be so sad.

I wondered the same thing. I saw in the paper that their profits went down in the 3rd quarter. Got hit in the pocket and they start changing their story. Crawfishing is what we call it in Bayou Country.

Well my husband has worked at Sams for years so we shop there and Walmart a lot. It was a corporate decision that has nothing to do with him. Walmart is the cheapest and easiest for me, being a foreigner that is learning what things are.

Well then, we'll hit 'em just enough to get their attention, but not enough to make your husband lose his job We don't have a lot of money, but something like this was enough to make us willing to pay a few cents more for stuff. Some of our friends had the attitude that you can find something wrong with any store you go to, so what do we do, move out to a farm and don't shop anywhere? (Not a bad idea either, BTW ;D) They may be right, but there are only a few sins in the Bible that are called abomination , and homosexuality is one of them. This is a special case.
