I have read this week about Pat Robertsons prediction of a terrible terrorist attack this year after sept. I am not too familiar with him or his predictions but I thought, well whether or not that actually happens how long do we think as a nation that we will continue untouched. I guess it made me think about repentance as a nation. That we really need now more than ever as the church to seek repentance and God's mercy and forgiveness so that His hand of protection will not be removed from us. If we do not pray for this nation and it's protection who will?

Robertson has completely crossed the line with this one. He has fallen into the category of false prophet. God does not grant the ability to foretell the future any longer.
You are absolutely correct in that we need to be in much prayer for our country and our leaders.
It may sound sort of smug but the things of the world don't really bother me that much. You see the bottom line is that no matter what happens I will go to Heaven. That is comfort enough for me. I had no fear at all going into my recent surgery because of this fact. The things of the world and the political situation don't really concern me that much.
Please don't misunderstand. I think it prudent to vote and to work toward electing officials that hold the same godly values I do. That is important. There is already too much infringement on the practice of Christianity in this country as it is. It is also prudent that we as Christians do the best we can at spreading the Good News so that many more can have the pure luxury of being with God when we leave this world.
In Christ, George

Now, more than ever, we need a Christian leader ... it would be great if thousands of believers were to pray at the same time ... I will try to remember to do this

I agree with Bro. George about this. First of all I think 9/11 was a terrible terrorist attack.
No I am just throwing this out here and it may sound a little odd. My dad (passed away now) said that the main reason America has not invaded is because we have the right to bear arms. Our citizens would fight to protect their wife and children. If our right to bear arms is taken away, then I would fear invasion.

I do pray for the nation, but that particular time request is not one that is not one I can agree to do. It is a very important thing indeed. My DH says we shouldn't complain about a government because its our lack of prayers that hurt the most. That is not exactly his words but real close.

I am not an American...I am however a Christian, so I feel I amongst family here. Is it possible that America was blessed but has thrown away that blessing? electing un Godly leaders again and again and making law things that are an abomination to the Lord? I do not want to see any one suffer but they will...because God says we will as we wait for His return. Scotland was once a Godly nation, home of John Knox. Great Britian was home to China Inland Mission founder, the Godly Hudson Taylor (his autobiography is wonderful, filled with scripture, a shorter version and no less uplifting is ''The Spiritual Secret of Hudson Taylor'') Spurgeon, the Wesley's, the Salvation Army...but now? missionaries come to the Uk!! and there are more witches in Edinburgh than practising Christians. I have read that often where the light burned brightest, satan will target harder and sadly in the UK and Europe he is succeeding as churches become bars and night clubs. The same thing is happening in America and according to Scripture will continue to happen. There is no Godly man running for president...how can one be a Godly man if you support abortion and gay marriage and cloning to name but a few. God is being taken out of the schools, the judiciary and the the new God is fame and money. We know terrorism will continue, because the Bible tells us so. Man cannot make peace, only Christs return will give us that. God allows us to choose our leaders and we get the nations and the laws we deserve. I watched Huckabee, the nominal Christian candidate declare the pope was a Godly man and George Bush state Islam was just another way to God. That their God, Allah, was the same as the Holy God of the Bible...what ignorance!! Don't get me wrong, I am not ''bashing'' America but America I believe is no longer the favoured nation it once was, just like Great Britain and the reason? because we stopped following the Lord and started to follow the ways of the world. Its a sad day when 87% of Christians in America (Barna research and ? fairly accurate for main stream Christianity) are indistiguishable in their beliefs and lifestyles from the unchurched and unsaved....it paints a sorry picture. Why would God bless America, or any other nation that denies God? We need to pray and stand together but this too is increasingly difficult because our spokes persons are increasingly disobedient end ecumenical. Its the likes of mega pastors like Rick Warren and humanist new agers like Oprah Winfrey that hold the nations attention. Because they tell people we will all go to heaven, God is not mean!! he loves everyone and we are all children of God. The gospl is diluted and satan rejoices! Blessings, Sister Allene <><

yes, but...
2 Chronicles 7:14 If my people, which are called by my name shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.

here is the whole email I recieved:
Received from a friend and it is true, this is the scariest election we as Christians have ever faced and from the looks of the polls, the Christians aren't voting Christian values. We all need to be on our knees.
Do you believe we can take God at His word? Call upon His name, then stand back and watch His wonders to behold. This scripture gives us, as Christians, ownership of this land and the ability to call upon God to heal it. I challenge you to do so. We have never been more desperate than now for God to heal our land. This election is the scariest I remember in my lifetime.
2 Chronicles 7:14 If my people, which are called by my name shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.
During WWII, there was an advisor to Churchill who organized a group of people who dropped what they were doing every night at a prescribed hour for one minute to collectively pray for the safety of England, its people and peace. This had an amazing effect as bombing stopped. There is now a group of people organizing the same thing here in America. The United States of America and our citizens need prayer more than ever !!!
If you would like to participate: each evening at 9:00 PM Eastern Time (8:00 PM Central, 7:00 PM Mountain, 6:00 PM Pacific), stop whatever you are doing and spend one minute praying for the safety of the United States, our troops, our citizens, for peace in the world, the upcoming election, that the Bible will remain the basis for the laws governing our land and that Christianity will grow in the U.S.
If you know anyone who would like to participate, please pass this along.
Someone said if people really understood the full extent of the power we have available through prayer, we might be speechless. Our prayers are the most powerful asset we have.
