A brief introduction. My name is Melissa. I am Don's wife and helpmeet. We have been married 25 years this October. We were blessed with five boys (no girls) who are mostly grown now. My 73 year old widowed and disabled mother has been a special blessing in our home for the past five years.
We are totally sold out to Jesus and are Bible believing, praying, Holy Ghost filled Christians. We belong to an awesome Spirit filled church and the only down side is that it is far from home. There is a smaller but equally wonderful church very close to home and we have been struggling to possibly make the move to go there. It will be very hard to do so we are prayerful and waiting on a move of God and his decision. Both churches are Pentecostal in faith and practice with traditional values of holiness and separation from the world.
We were previously churched at the local Baptist church my husband having grown up in the Baptist faith. However most Baptist churches here would be unrecognizable to many of you.
Our former church was taken over by a very liberal pastor and his message of come as you are and stay as you are spread like wildfire. One day I looked up to find young girls on our platform singing "praise" music in mini skirts while the youth rocked out with long hair, nose rings, tattoos, and bare belly shirts. These were not the lost but the children of our Deacons and Elders and even our Pastor. Even the middle aged ladies took to showing cleavage and thigh and piling on the makeup in the house of God. Shorts became common attire as folks stopped by church on their way to the game.
Sadly we knew we needed to move but did not. We loved these people as our own family and were heart broken at each unplanned pregnancy in the youth and each trip to jail or rehab. Finally the Lord dealt with us. The services dried up and the message was dead, many times, as is our habit, we would discuss the message on the way home but found we couldn't even remember what was preached. Relationships fizzled as we sought the Lord and doors began to open to our present church as we made many Godly friends who attended there. Our walk with the Him has never been stronger and more joyful. We do feel there may be some errors in doctrine and are personally convicted about not celebrating Christmas and Easter although it is accepted in our church. I also have been studying on head coverings. Pentecostals teach that a womans uncut hair is given to her as a covering but I feel a personal conviction to cover with something more. So in my search I have stumbled upon your site. I am intrigued and eager to fellowship with you all.
On a more wordily note we bought a little farm (30 acres) and moved in last December. We moved from an equestrian subdivision so brought the horses with us... oh and the chickens... Now we have added the cows (Dexters) and soon will come pigs.
My interests are medicine, both traditional and holistic and I work for eight gynecologic surgeons/OB 's. Food and nutrition, Homemaking, Simple living and giving back to the Kingdom. I don't know how this will work since I don't spend much time at the computer but I would love to get to know you all.
My special prayer requests are for salvation for my lost sons and continued improvement in my mothers health. Also at this time Don (DH) is needing a 4th knee surgery and really dreading it since he has a good idea of what the recovery will be.
Be Blessed,
