I thought I would share something I read this morning with you brothers and sisters. I find it quite interesting and quite true. Why go to Church? If you're spiritually alive, you're going to love this! If you're spiritually dead, you won't want to read it. If you're spiritually curious, there is still hope! Why Go To Church? A Church goer wrote a letter to the editor of a newspaper and complained that it made no sense to go to church every Sunday. "I've gone for 30 years now," he wrote, "and in that time I have heard something like 3,000 sermons. But for the life of me, I can't remember a single one of them. So, I think I'm wasting my time and the pastors are wasting theirs by giving sermons at all." This started a real controversy in the "Letters to the Editor" column, much to the delight of the editor. It went on for weeks until someone wrote this clincher: "I've been married for 30 years now. In that time my wife has cooked some 32,000 meals. But, for the life of me, I cannot recall the entire menu for a single one of those meals. But I do know this... They all nourished me and gave me the strength I needed to do my work. If my wife had not given me these meals, I would be physically dead today. Likewise, if I had not gone to church for nourishment, I would be spiritually dead today!" When you are DOWN to nothing.... God is UP to something! Faith sees the invisible, believes the incredible and receives the impossible! Thank God for our physical AND our spiritual nourishment! Yours in Christ, George

Amen! Praise the Lord. The preaching of Gods word is reviving, nourishing, and even healing. Often I have had some pressing burden (even bitterness) or deep question unanswered, that troubles my soul, and after hearing the preaching of Gods word, the Lord would speak to my heart in such a way I became healed in an area of my life. The light of Gods word came in, understanding came to me, I recieved the teaching and wooing of the Lord in my heart, and I yelded to God and was heald. Truely healed. Amazing! But very true. God blesses His Word being preached. We have a hard time finding good churches around here. The music program is usually upsetting, or the preacher talks about a TV program he's seen, or Football, or dating, his wife usually has bobbed hair, and works out side the home, immodest ( not to mention his family ), there is unchallanged grose immodisty in the church, foolish programs and campains, uncontrolled teens, children, and even toddlers. ungodly behaviours, and the sad thing is the pastor eaither doesn't have a problem with all this or cannot do anything about the mess the church ( or his own family ) is in . And the hardships a, modest, covered, non TV/ Video watching, proper music, stay at home wife and mama, quiver full, non dating, against foolishness, football and the like, has to go through, is dammaging to the family and not worth all the ungodly upset that shouldn't be named in the House of the Living God. Amen and Amen ! God help us. ~ sister Darlene ~

Amen and Amen ! God help us. Sister Darlene, your words so speak to my heart. I am saddened and heartbroken over all of the things I would like in my life, yet struggle to have...the reverent family, the sober-minded family, a fellowship of like-minded believers in real life. I am becoming resigned to the fact that this is simply not to be in this season of life for me. There are too many things against it coming to fruition for me. Perhaps not in the Lord's Plan at this time I don't know.
Everything you spoke of is in my family It is not always blatantly so, but the underlying current is there nonetheless. I see it...you've seen it...it's simply there and I am as much at a loss for taking it under control as I was months ago. Things change, and that has been good, but maybe I simply expect too much too soon? The Lord is showing me daily areas that I need to attend to in my own life. Perhaps hindering the results I so want in the rest of my life.
Anyway, I ramble I just wanted to say thank you. I needed to get this off my heart and release it to the Lod. Your comments helped me do so.

Dear sister Deanna, You are precious. The Lord loves you so much. You are precious to God. Hang in there, keep pressing forward for the Lord. Things can change and they do change for the good if we press forward, praying and trusting God to do a work and change hearts. Seasons are differant for everyone but we must not get discouraged and through up our hands and give up. Your family has great potential for the Lord. Remember the big picture the future , your grandchildren. Psalms 34:18 The LORD is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit. Psalms 145:18 The LORD is nigh unto all them that call upon him, to all that call upon him in truth. James 4:8 Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded.Philippians 3:14 I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.
I love you sister your profitable to God so is Bro. Dewey, your children are sweet and young still and have great potential for the Lord. Pray sister, pray hard without ceasing, I'll pray with you. I'm glad you have a sweet church to fellowship in and that Bro. Dewey has a good job, but I do still wish yall could move here to Tenn. Your friend, ~ Darlene ~
