I have been noticing in the paper and on the Christian station all the excitement over CS Lewis's book the Chronicles of Narnia being made into a movie, {By Disney no less}. To hear James Dobson and others speak this is the greatest thing around. Is it only me that has a problem with this or do others? I know Christ used stories in the Bible , but never magic, witches and wizards. I personally think it is sad that the so called church has had to lower it's self to the standards of the world in order to try and get people saved. Just reminds me of churches that think they have to entertain in order to get and keep people in the church. Now have a big screen TV , super bowl game at church and watch the people flock in and not complain it it goes past noon I might be in left field on this , but I think not. Bro Randy

Bro. Randy...I have always had a problem with the "Chronicles of Narnia" even when I was a child...I don't know why but it was almost like blashemy...I agree, magic, witchcraft, wizards, it's all the same...God doesn't like it and we shouldn't either and stay away from it...Thanks for sharing....Sister Debbie

I have noticed if you have the more happy go lucky, evangelical, loose fitting, pop Christianity loving attitude, Narnia, Lord of the Rings, etc., are not so bad. But, if you call evil, evil, and sin, sin! then these stories are wicked and you probably use the thought line, should I sin, that grace may abound.
I have heard people liken these to the "parables of Jesus." Jesus used real life situations, not witches, warlocks, elves, etc.
My two cents worth (so far) Bro. Ben

You know brother Ben, my attitude about this is why would I want to read it in the first place? I don't have enough time to be reading fictional trash. God gave me this Book to study and read; The Holy Bible. There are many learned men who have devoted their entire lives to studying God's Holy Word and they will be the first to admit they do not understand it all, nor do they have it all committed to memory.
As I said, I do not have time to read any kind of fiction. When not reading the Bible or working on Bible studies of some sort I read things such as an 800 page book I have titled, "The Story of Christianity." I have a number of reference books concerning the Bible and Christianity to read.
In a different place at a different time I was involved in a discussion of C S Lewis. I was told in no uncertain terms that he was a "good Christian man." In my way of thinking a "good Christian man" does not write stories about witches and the like. My goodness, his one book, "The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe" contains not only witches but magic and other things directly contrary to the teachings of the Bible.
I do not believe I should read this stuff much less allow it to be read by children. But as was pointed out here, it is modern pop Christianity.
Yours in Christ, George

Amen Bro. George and fellow brethren.. I completely agree. I have read several articles on C.S. Lewis and from what I can tell, he wasn't a christian man according to Bible description... I have been asked by my family if we will see this movie CoN.. for one thing, my family knows we don't watch movies.. they don't ask that about any other movies that may be coming out.. so I was a bit shocked that they would ask if we would see this. .. my sister allows her children to watch just about anything.. .. and then wonders why I won't let my children stay the night with her and her kids. Her children are just about unbearable to be around. AnyHoo... ;D... my family said I was being "fanatical" about not letting my kids watch harry potter.. I told them thank you.. ;D.. they weren't amused.. LOL.. anyway, I told them that just because someone smacks the word christian on something doesn't mean it is christian.. and besides that, we don't watch movies!!!!! I don't understand what they are missing there.. LOL.. I read an article somewhere, man, I wish I could remember.. I will see if I can find it and post it.. it was talking about C.S. Lewis and how he didn't write the CoN to being any type of allegory or whatever they are calling it to Jesus. This is plain trash like the rest of Unholywood.. anything that comes out of there isn't worth spitting on.. .. and Disney is a joke.. has anyone ever read anything about Walt Disney (can you tell I like to read biographies of other's lives.. LOL)? He was an atheist. Why in the world would I think anything he did was worth watching.. the whole disney company is reprobate..

Amen and amen... Many christians like C.S. Lewis Makes no sense to me... Interesting that Disney didn't make it a movie before now...Now with all the evil movies, cartoons...like Harry Potter ( I can't believe someone that calls themself a ''Christian'' would watch, read or condone Harry Potter , C S Lewis and other such evil writtings), Disney jumps on the wagon choosing to make a movie out of C.S Lewis writtings, interesting! If they weren't evil Disney would have nothing to do with it. Disney is not for God and righteousness... They like the occult and witchcraft it's been evedent ever sence Micky Mouse came into existance maybe before. Christian parents need to throw anything to do with Disney in the trash...Also any other trendy cartoon figure, or clothing, shoes, toys, bed sheets, sleeping bags ( anything with it on it...), ''all'' of them compromise Gods principles and Gods Word, and His will for a christian. This goes for ''all'' so called ''christian cartoon figures''. What a silly waste of ones precious time that could be used for God and the things of God. Throw that TV and VCR, ( DVD) out! Read the bible to your children, read other good character building stories to them perge out the bad and replace it with good... Teach them how to help with the house and property, teach them to bake, cook, do crafts, write letters, sew, crochet, tend to animals, play an insterment (piano, violin, dulcimer, etc...) The list goes on and on... If you do not know how to yourself then learn! Learn how to spend ''your time'' more profitable for God also. If your husband likes the TV... pray and pray hard ...occupy the children in another room. God can change his heart. Pray for God to have first place in your precious family. Alot of men like the news, sports, and other so called ''non harmful'' programs, but there is plenty wrong with these propgrams. The TV, VCR, and DVD's are unnessary. Alot of folks say they have it to play preaching , science , and other so called profitable things like that, but it is just as profitable if not more to listen to preaching on cassette or CD and read about science, have we come to the point in America where even christians would rather be intertained than read or listen. It ties one to a couch or chair to have to sit down to watch a Video, or DVD, reading stretches your skills and mind while sitting and watching takes little effort and you have to have the apperance of evil in your home. Food for thought, not fuel for a fire, If you disagree thats ok, others wont disagree and will grow by what I have said. May the Lord be glorifyed. Fervantly seeking to please the Lord, ~ sister Darlene ~ P.S. I stopped by Mc Donalds to get Benjamin a Double Cheese burger with mayo ( his favorite) and noticed that the toy they put in the happy meals was something called witch! I was shocked... I know I should not be but I was, America is going down fast! Parents ( christians ) blindly buy these toys and see nothing wrong with them ( they think magic, witches, sorcery are not real they are mistaken! Parents need to go through there childrens toys, books, ''everything in the house '', and remove these toys, and other questionable books, and other items... Lets honor God with our lives.

I can never understand how good christian men can stand up and say that evil is good.. This really gets to me. I mean i wonder sometimes if this is why there is so many lost souls. Why would they want to become a christian when we go to the same movies, watch the same tv shows, listen to the same music, read the same books as they do.. We dont look different, smell differnt, or dress different. I think it is time we say NO to all of these things. We have taken a stand againist these types of movies, or books for that matter... They are evil plan and simple.. I dont care what good christian man on the tv says...

Amen Sister Glenda. Like the old saying " if it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck and acts like a duck then it must be a duck. So it is with these other questionable things.
Back to my orginal question about things like this being wrong and maybe being out in left field , I guess I am not and many other feel the same way,
