Hello, This is my first post on this board. I thought I would take a moment to introduce myself. I (Carmen) am a pastors wife, mother of three girls. Ages 6 (Bethany), 4 (Rebekah), 2 (Abigail). My husband (Jim) is a pastor at a Evangelical Friends church for starting our 6th year. This is our first year to cover. I am very interested in some fellowship with like minded sisters. I am the only one in my church and practically my area. Although this year will on a date with my husband at a resturant we ran into another person that covers. Some people have said that other people in the community have asked if our church is turing mennionite. But I gladly tell them no just our church is turing biblical. Well, I guess that is all for now. We are doing VBS this week so we are busier than a one armed coat hanger.

Hello Sister Carmen,
Welcome to the board. Our family has only been covering for two years now and are also the only one's in our church and nearly the only ones in our community ( besides the Amish and Mennonites) to do so. I like your response as to the question as to whether or not your are turning Mennonite. May the Lord bless you and your family. I look forward to learning more about you. Blessings Lisa

Welcome! Can I ask what kind of headcovering you wear? I wear a gathered cloth snood kind of bonnet like the one on this page - 3rd one on top row (they have excellent patterns!) www.candleonthehill.net/store/catalog.php?category=15. I like your answer about becoming more Biblical too! I will have to remember that one.
My husband and I homechurch right now and just came back from BBI where we were able to fellowship with other Biblically dressed couples. I cannot say enough good things about that Bible Institute.
Now I'm rattling off and I need to get the laundry out of the washer and put it in the dryer.

Greetings sister Carmen! So nice to have you with us. We are headcovering christians as well not Mennonite or Amish just bible believing, bible practicing christians. The Lord is good. We have been covering since 2000. It's become a way of life.
We have no like minded believers in our area. It can get lonely at times, no ladies to relate to about family (large family), child rearing, finances (debt free), the covering, modesty, homemaking (stay at home wives and mamas). These are strange beliefs to most professing christians. Pilgrims and strangers in a strange land.
This world is not my home, I'm just a passing through, my treasures are laid up just beyond the blue,
The angles beckon me from heavens open door,
and I can't feel at home in this world any more.
Love your new sister and and friend in Christ, ~ Darlene ~

Welcome Sister Carmen! I am glad to meet you. I too am a pastor's wife, and the only "covered" lady in our church, and yes it does cause problems! It seems like we ladies could remove much more clothing and be quite fine and accepted, but let us cover as God instructs and we are labeled legalists and wacky to say the very least. We are an old fashioned, King James Bible, soulwinning, Christ-centered, independent, and fundamental baptist church. I sometimes cringe when I add the "fundamental" part, not that I do not strongly believe fundamentally, but because of the harm some fundamental baptist have done to our name and stand. So just know I am not one of the "sheep abusers"! That said....WELCOME, and I know you will enjoy this place. It is nice to fellowship with others who believe as we do. Blessings and Prayers, Sister Pamela Johanna

Hello, Hello to all and thank you for your warm welcome. I wear a veil like is the missionary veil on the website that one of you dear sisters posted. We are also the only ones in our denomination (I can probably safetly say) That believes in using the AV and recieving as many blessings (children and so on) as the Lord sees fit in giving us.
Does anyone have a good way to keep headcovering on active thin hair little girls? Has anyone tried sewing a head band on? Does it work? I have sewed combs onto the front of my headcoverings and that helps because I am picky about the front staying down.
God Bless Carmen

Sister Carmen, one of those websites has a veil that has an attached stretchy headband. It seems it should work just fine.
Active little girls settle down eventually but sometimes it's hard to get them to understand they have to "maintain". God gives us the strength though if we but ask him.
Thank you for sharing about your covering. The veil seems to be a cooler style for summer and very comfortable. But around here I can be mistaken for another denomination and I thought it was best if I wore the cloth snood since no one wears that here.

There is not any people in my area that cover. People are just that ignorant to know that cover issues is in the Bible. If we are to take the Bible as 100% God's infallible word. To live by it's precepts everyday then we as women must cover. Most people just group everyone that covers with Amish or Mennonite.

Welcome to the board! Somehow I think I missed your introduction. Out here in my part of the west there aren't many likeminded people at all, actually most of the people are very casual about God or don't even believe in Him. What a great mission field for those whose hearts aren't already so hard to the gospel. Looking forward to getting to know you more!

Dear sister Carmen,
Me and my girls use a head band with teeth and the put on our head covering and put straight pins in front of the head band, that keeps the covering on, and then we put one clippies one on each side in the back to further secure it.
We live on a farm my girls climb trees, run and play, ride bikes, tumble in the grass, you name it. This method works well for us. I hope it will for your girls as well.
The head band combs the hear when removed and put back on for tiding up the hair throughout the day. Just remove the straight pins but leave in the clippies and the covering will not slip off the back of your head while you take off and put back on your head band and fix your covering back with straight pins.
Here is how we wear our covering...
Blessings! ~ sister Darlene ~
