Brothers and Sisters, First Baptist Church of Santa Maria needs your prayers.
Yesterday morning the goals of the Church for the coming year were disclosed and discussed. One of the goals, and it is something that has been needed in this area for a long time, is the founding of Pacific Coast Bible Institute. This will be a precursor and a lead-in to the establishment of a Bible College in the future.
One of the goals of the Institute will be to reach out to the Mexican community. Santa Maria is composed of about 60% Mexicans. (No, they are not Mexican-Americans, they are Mexicans and a lot of them illegal.) There are a tremendous number of they who have no knowledge of the English language at all. It is our intent to use the Bible to teach them to read and speak English. We are very blessed to have a lady on staff in our Christian School who has a doctorate degree in English. Her husband also taught Bible at Pensacola Christian College for 13 years and is a part of our Church staff.
We have many more goals on line for this year. We need to be immersed in prayer.
