The first thing we teach our girls how to bake is Flourless Peanut butter Cookies, then Corn Bread, then Buttermilk Biscuits...
Our 11 year old Bethany tried her hand at Buttermilk (goat buttermilk ) Biscuits yesterday and they were the best I've ever had. They were really yummy! We often roll out the dough and spread a mixture of butter, brown sugar, and cinnamon, then roll up and cut in 1/2 in thickness. Bake like biscuits. Enjoy Cinnamon Buns from scratch...yummy and easy!Flourless Peanut butter Cookies
1 egg beaten
1 c raw sugar ( white is fine too )
1 c of peanut butter
Beat egg, add sugar stir well, then stir in peanut butter, drop on cookie sheet by spoonful, Bake 350 8-10 min. Enjoy!Corn Bread
2 eggs slightly beaten
1 3/4 c buttermilk
1/4 c corn oil
1 1/2 c cornmeal mix (self rise, yellow)
1 c all purpose flour
Mix, In a 8'' or 9'' cast iron skillet pour oil in pan till oil almost reaches sides of pan approx 3 Tb, heat skillet in oven, take out pour batter in, Bake in a 450' oven until golden brown, 20 to 25 min. Enjoy!Buttermilk Biscuits
6 c self rise flour
1 1/2 lard
2 c buttermilk
In a large mixing bowl combine flour and lard with a fork until it resembles small peas, then add buttermilk and stir just until mixed, form into a biscuit 1/2 in thick. Bake in a 400' oven until golden . Enjoy!

Growing up, whenever we would visit my paternal grandparents for supper, it was my job to make the cornbread.
My husband says that mine is even better than Cracker Barrel ;D

My daughter likes to bake, she is 10. She has mostly used mixes for the last year. She mostly makes cakes and cookies. She did make pizza crust a couple times from scratch.
I am going to start teaching her more soon.
