Behcets is an auto immune disease. My Immune system attacts healthy blood vessels and sometimes artries thinking that it is a germ or bug. When the blood vessesls get inflammed they burst or scar. When they burst they cause ulcerations, when they scar they become blocked both are painful. My immune system also attacks my joints and is systemic (more then one body system is involved.)
My flair started simple enough, the small annoying canker sores that come in clusters. It ususallly goes away in 2 weeks. but after that I got the skin boils, the sore joints, the headache that has lasted a little more then three weeks now, then yesterster it is the ulcerations (not just canker sores)on the back of my throat, toncils.
I am already taking way more medications then I want. I am not taking any narcotic pain relievers. But I hurt so bad I might have too. I have been on pill steriods for two weeks, a migrain medication, a blood presure med, a chemo drug to kill the immune system and and a immune suppressant drug.
Tomorrow my husband and I are suppose to head to Penelton Oregon for the the 100 year celebration. I was going to get to see my best friend and hang out. Just pray that i get some sort of break from this awful Flair.
Thank you Debbi

Oh my word Sister Debbi! You shall of course be in my prayers. Thank you for letting me know how I can best pray for you. This sounds really terrible and I imagine it feels even worse than that from the list of meds you have to take for it.
This sounds somewhat similar to Lupus. Are they related in any way Sister?
Having just gone through a series of four different narcotic pain relievers and struggling mightily with each of them to the point of having to wean off of the current one I can only caution you to please be very careful with whichever one you get. Perhaps they don't cause you difficulties but if you experience any shortness of breath, unusual fatigue or tiredness or a feeling that your heart is really "racing" please, please contact your doctor. Those can be signs of side effects of the narcotic pain meds.
Take care my dear Sister in Christ and as I said, I shall be praying for you.
In Christ, George

Yes Behcet's has the some of the same symptoms of Lupus and other Auto Immune diseases, the chemistry and biology is slightly differnt. I was actually missdiagnoised with Crohn's and then Lupus and then finially Behcet's. Since I am cacassion and not from a decendant from the Silk Road Region, no one concidered I could have Behcet's.
My doctors office is trying to get me an appointment with a nuerologist. So my trip is off. I am soo dissappointed I looked forward to spending time with my hubby and to get to see my friend too what a bonus. My husband still has to make the trip as he goes every year for his job. My friend totally understands. there will be other opportunities to see each other, and we still have the phone and internet to connect.
God is in control, I just have to keep reminding me of that.
Prayerfully Sister Debbi

Sister Debbie, I am grieved to hear of your troubles. Although I feel 'oh so tired and weak' right now; I also feel my prayer life is getting stronger than ever [thank God!]: of course you will be remembered in those prayers,
I wish you the best; Bro. Steve

We'll be praying, too, Sister Debbi, this sounds very bad. We need to hold each other up in prayer. I believe the enemy does not like it when we endeavor to be all we can for Christ.

THank you so much for your prayers! I ended up going on that short road trip. I spent much needed time with my husband and my best friend. I ignored the constant headache & the sores in the mouth. I rested when I needed too and it was a quiet weekend with the grown ups! I will see a nureologist (sp?) later this week about the constant headache. I am convinced it is just part of the flair from the Behcet's disease but the doctors aren't convinced because that is even more rare of a complication then the disease it self.
I will not let this disease rule or dictate what I can or can't do. I spent many months doing nothing because of the pain and side effects this disease can cause. I will continue my Godly journey despite of the inflictions I have to endure because of this disease. By His stripes I am Healed. Maybe not now but I know I will be :-)
Prayerfully Yours Sister Debbi

I just added you to my prayers. I am so sorry you are dealing with this. I have never heard of Benchet's, but I was wondering how it was similar to lupus, thank you for answering that part. Please know I am lifting you up.

I still have the headache and sores everywhere. I see the neurologist this afternoon. Since the Steroids and Lithium treatments didn't work and the other drugs I take to suppress my immune system aren't doing a good enough job I am praying this doctor has some new treatment up his sleeve as he suppose to be one of the neurologist in the country. I am also praying he knows something about Behcet's disease. It gets frustrating when I have to explain my disease to the experts!

Thank you soo much for prayers. I am doing better! But with any auto immune disease it is 2 steps forward one step back and this week I had one of those 1 step back episodes. But now with set back under control I am feeling much more human again!
Again thank you for your Prayers!

Praise the Lord for once again answering the requests of His children. I am so pleased you are feeling better Sister Debbie. I shall continue to pray it gets even better. Is there any time-frame type of thing as to when these flair-ups happen such as every few months or something like that or are they just random?
In Christ, George

With Behcet't there is no pattern they just happen. It is hard to predict if an injury, emotional stress, food, smells, harvests you name anything can set off a flair.
I am on Immune Suppressant drugs so any illness can send me into a flair also.

Oh Debbi! What an awful time you are having! I had a friend who had Lupus and I remember the toll it always took on her. I myself have osteoarthritis and fibromyalgia so I know about constant pain. I will definitely be praying for you!
