Please forgive me for being a bit tardy on this. I have been rather busy lately.
First I want to sincerely praise God for His goodness, grace and mercies which He extends to me every day although I am most likely the least deserving person there is.
Secondly I sincerely and from the bottom of my heart want to thank each and every person who has steadfastly and faithfully prayed for me over the last 7 years and 9 months.
My last CT scans show complete and overall stability. There is no growth of tumor tissue anywhere in my body. That makes two sets of CT scans in a row. I can not remember over all that time ever having a period in which I had two reports of stability back to back. What a tremendous blessing.
For the last couple of weeks I have also had much more energy than I have in a long, long time. I am able to get some things done. In fact I spent parts of last Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday,Friday and today working on our back property at Church getting ready for the Living Nativity. My oncologist said he believes I may have finally recovered from the surgery. When I questioned the fact that it has been over 5 months he said that with the kind of surgery I had and the extent of it, it is not at all unusual to take 5 to 6 months to recover. Whatever it is that the Lord has done for me and to me I am extremely blessed and grateful.
Although we ought to have the spirit of thanksgiving in our hearts and on our minds continually, this year I have a tremendous amount to be Thankful for.
I was thinking earlier today about an attitude of gratitude. I don't know how many of you are familiar with what is called a "T" account in bookkeeping. What you do is make a large capital T on a page of paper. A "T" account has a plus side and a minus side. On the left side of the paper write down whatever it is that is bothering you. (That is the minus side.) Then on the right side start listing all of the things you have to be grateful for. (That of course is the plus side.) Start out with the fact God let you wake up today. You will see that the things we have to be grateful for far outweigh the little thing that is bothering us no matter how incredibly huge it seems to us at first. I like to keep a note book with paper in it handy on the table so that when I get down in the dumps for some reason or another I can make the "T" account and find that my problems are really few and small compared to all the good things in my life.
In Christ,
George
