I am considering on doing some doctoral work on Baptist theologians and Headcovering. Has anyone ever documented the positions of Baptist Theologians of the past and the doctrine of head covering?
Thanks, Ken

There is some work of this nature. There used to be a brother on here, (he may still be, haven't heard from him in a while,) who did some research into Baptist writings that refered to the practice of the head covering. I'll try to find some connection. Oh, by the way, welcome in, brother. I'm Bro. Ben, admin, on the forum.

Thanks Ben. I am an Independent Baptist and my wife wears a head covering. I am considering topics for a Baptist Theology paper for my doctoral class, and thought it would be interesting to create such a reference of Baptist position over the centuries.

I have a book called "The Veiled Woman" by Milburn cockrell (1941-2002). I ordered it from Berea Baptist Church Bookstore, Mantachie, MS ( bereabaptistchurchbookstore.com/ ). It's a small, 52-page book which costs under $4 (not including shipping). cockrell was a Baptist pastor who believed that women should wear a covering at church, though he wasn't opposed to those ladies who wore one all the time. His third chapter is "What Other Have Said." The first section is "The Church Fathers," followed by "Non-Baptist Scholars and Writers." The last section of the chapter is "Baptist Scholars and Writers." The Baptists mentioned, who were for coverings, were August Hopkins Strong, Isaac Massey Haldeman, Thomas Treadwell Eaton, James Madison Pendleton, Harvey Boyce Taylor, Ezra Palmer Gould, Thomas Paul Simmons, and C.D. Cole. I have no knowledge of, or connection to, Berea Baptist Church. I simply found this book online and was happy to get it, since it is the only book, which I'm aware of, written by a Baptist who supports the wearing of a covering by Christian ladies. The other books I have, supporting coverings, are written by Mennonites.
