Many on here have prayed for my wife and me which we both appreciate. An incident occurred yesterday that is weighing heavily on us now. We live with my wife's mother at present and it can be a difficult thing at times.
Recently she let one her grandchildren, not our child, stay here too. We didn't like this as he is a troublemaker and at 18 years old has been arrested several times. He is a liar, a thief and a real con artist. My mother-in-law has been totally taken in by him and refuses to see just the type he is. She by the way is 80 years old and not in the best of health.
Yesterday morning he stole her car to go visit his girlfriend and commit an assault on some enemy of his.He thought he could get back before anyone knew it as he left around 4am. However it was discovered, the police called and he was put in jail.
Now my mother-in-law wants to bail him out and bring him back here. This has not been well received by us as you can imagine. We never felt comfortable around him and now it will be ten times worse. We suspect but cannot prove he has been into some of our stuff here. We are still unemployed and have no money to leave as what little we do have goes to various bills. Please pray that my mother-in-law will not take this drastic step. We have tried to make her see the real situation but she will not listen to us at all. I used to think if we just presented the truth plainly she would agree. This time though it is obvious she is deceived beyond our ability to convince her otherwise.
This thing is causing a rift between my wife and her mother. It is stressing both me and my wife out. As my wife has had some strokes in the past, I worry about her health should she get too upset. All prayer appreciated.

We'll sure pray, JohnMark. One of my co-workers had a similar problem with riff-raff relatives taking advantage of his elder mother. He had to sick the law on them. How sad. We'll pray that she'll be lead by the truth and not her emotions. This boy needs a dose of reality that perhaps the law enforcement folks could provide.

I don't know how to say this but we just went through almost the identical situation. My mother kept rewarding my nephews bad behavior. It is hard on family when you want to help and they don't. For us we are Christians and my mom and nephew are not. My dh was caring for me and my meds are an outrageous cost, plus he recently returned to work after sick leave and a pile of debts we are trying to pay. We thought we could help each other out, but instead we left before the rift got worse.
Some may say we are living in a cheap city motel/apt but at least we are away from that ans my husband is still feeding, clothing, sheltering, and showing me love by getting me out if there.
Before my husband learned of our Saviour Jesus Christ and became a Christian he spent many years in prison and some in jail. He is asleep now but he would say that being in the wrong place has put some in there. There could be drugs involved so please be cautions. And I will certainly pray for your family.
This may seem odd but also be cautious of getting public help. I annoy against it because like to think of taxes helping those in need, but we have learner that some. Do not understand modest living or headcovering and see it as a sign of oppression. That being said our city has a helping hands book that lists various helps for those who need it. It even has a program to house families.

This situation is getting crazier every day. Somehow the nephew got out of jail on pre-trial release. He is staying with his aunt who is as deceived as my mother-in-law as to his real character. At least he is not here but the atmosphere in this house is very tense.

Praying the Lord will work all this out quickly.
How frustrating it must be to have to live at your mother in laws house and now with unruly young man. May the Lord put road blocks in his life and draw him to the Saviour Jesus Christ.
May the Lord give you a stable job soon, and a nice safe place to live, and a place to call HOME.
Maybe you can get a job at a grocery store, or fast food place. That would be better than nothing, and give you some money, and keep your dear wife out of the work place.
Praying, ~ sister Darlene ~

We are applying for jobs every day but so far without success. I suppose we could wallpaper the place with our rejection letters! Sometimes it gets me down that this is our situation. However, we have been able to help our daughter who has had a lot of problems lately. If we were both working we would not have been able to do what we have done. I believe God planned it that way, at least it does seem like it.

Dear Bro John Mark,
How frustrating it must be to be living with your mother in law ( but praise God you have someone who cares and would take you in on the Planet Earth) also not having some income to take care of your every day needs. I really feel for yall. It must be extremely discouraging at times.
It is so hard to find peace in the storm We are to be content but that is easier said than done. I remember when we were camping out in tents waiting for our house to be finished for 6 months with 7 children. It was hard, hot, wet at times, windy and stormy at times, no friends, family, or brethren to care or comfort us in our time of need. It only lasted 6 months but we did not know how long our desperate time would last. We daily tried to put a smile on and make the best of it and the Lord was faithful and he brought us through.
I will pray for the Lord to comfort yall and give you wisdom and to provide all your needs.
My grandmother is 83 and she has a best friend who is 60 something and she has a bummy, getting a divorce, no job, no where to live son.....Well my grandmother was praying about all the people without a job and how cold it was outside and how she wished she could help somehow...that very day her best friends son called crying on the phone about how he has no job and no where to live and how bad his wife is and my grandmother took him in to live with her. She would not even take us in if we had no where to go. This bum moved in now he has a job but she says his money is his business and she doesn't ask him about that, but he continues to live there for free. He has enough money to buy Pizza Hut Meat Lovers Pizza (I think he should start saving to move out on his own) He has a cousin that works at a food bank and gives them free food. My grandmother says he keeps my pantry and refrigerator full (that's all he does and that is free to him) I said you do not eat much food at all, but you have to pay the water and electric bill and you do not have any privacy anymore. But shes happy as a bug serving the Lord. Sounds like shes been bamboozled to me. There are many bummy people in her and my great aunts life (age 88) they use them like crazy.Gal 6:10 As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men, especially unto them who are of the household of faith. I am glad the Lord has blessed yall in this way.
I just wish my grandmother would have wisdom. This guy could be a permanent fixture until she dies...why get rid of a good thing. I pray the Lord moves him on.
Please pray for my grandmother when you think about it.
Love and Prayers, ~ sister Darlene ~

Still remembering your family and hoping things improve. Your wife and you must have a strong faith to stand up in turmoil. Your convictions may be something the family will remember when your gone and they will always know there is real Christians. I think your a testimony and having been in that situation before helps me to understand. I agree with Sis. Darlene about the job search. There is a lot of places that need lumpers and if your near any factories, I would look into it. Most truck drivers are not suppose to load and unload their own freight and since man companies don't do it themselves, the drivers hire lumpers to do it. Lumpers are usually waiting outside a factory or truck-stop and a driver will be looking for help. They pay by comcheck or cash and its a hard days work but it pays well and immediately after work is done. When we were in your position my husband sold plasma for gas to find work and we got food from food banks to eat. I was thankful. It was hard to be in a house where illegal activities go on; My husband has also prayed for you.

There was a time I did a lot of lumper work. In the '90s though I did too much and busted a disk in my neck. After the surgery, heavy lifting was no longer an option for me.
We do appreciate the prayers. They make the difference. The situation we have found ourselves in has in many ways been a help. We have gotten closer to the Lord. I look back at what we've gone through and I see where there have been changes. Some of them I knew needed to happen and some were sort of a revelation.
I now see, in a more powerful way than ever, just how little things of this world are worth and how fast they can disappear. What really matters is being saved, living right and doing what you can to spread the Gospel.
