I meant to post this back around, what we call, Easter. Many do not understand the sequence of events because of the misconception, Good Friday. You have to understand the Feasts to understand the TRUE sequence. Good Friday is a Catholic thing we need to desregard and go back to the scriptures.
Lev. 23
[4] These are the feasts of the LORD, even holy convocations, which ye shall proclaim in their seasons.
[5] In the fourteenth day of the first month at even is the LORD's passover.
[6] And on the fifteenth day of the same month is the feast of unleavened bread unto the LORD: seven days ye must eat unleavened bread.
These two observances were often referred to as the Feast of Unleavened Bread, part one being the passover, (on the 14th,) and the feast of unleavened bread, (the 15th.)
Matt. 26
[17] Now the first day of the feast of unleavened bread [which is the passover, insert mine] the disciples came to Jesus, saying unto him, Where wilt thou that we prepare for thee to eat the passover?
This is Wednesday. Now, remember, at sunset, it is going to become Thursday according to the Jewish calendar, (stop thinking America time.)
Matt.26
[18] And he said, Go into the city to such a man, and say unto him, The Master saith, My time is at hand; I will keep the passover at thy house with my disciples.
[19] And the disciples did as Jesus had appointed them; and they made ready the passover.
[20] Now when the even was come, he sat down with the twelve.
[30] And when they had sung an hymn, they went out into the mount of Olives.
It is Thursday, (what we'd call Wednesday night,) but they have sat down and took passover and Jesus began the Lord's Supper. They go out to the Mount of Olives to pray and where he'll be arrested.
Matt. 26
[45] Then cometh he to his disciples, and saith unto them, Sleep on now, and take your rest: behold, the hour is at hand, and the Son of man is betrayed into the hands of sinners.
[46] Rise, let us be going: behold, he is at hand that doth betray me.
Sometime late in the night they bring him in for the mock trial.
Matt. 27
[1] When the morning was come, all the chief priests and elders of the people took counsel against Jesus to put him to death:
Mark 15
[25] And it was the third hour, and they crucified him.
It's Thursday morning. They crucify at approx. 9 A.M. Passover meal and the Thursday morning was the time to prepare their hearts for the sacrifice at the feast of unleavened bread.
John 19
[14] And it was the preparation of the passover, and about the sixth hour: and he saith unto the Jews, Behold your King!
At noon, it become dark, (the sixth hour is noon.)
Matt. 27
[45] Now from the sixth hour there was darkness over all the land unto the ninth hour.
Matt. 27
[46] And about the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani? that is to say, My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?
[50] Jesus, when he had cried again with a loud voice, yielded up the ghost.
The ninth hour was 3 P.M., (the ninth hour of guard watch.) At this time, Jesus cries out and then dies.
John 19
[31] The Jews therefore, because it was the preparation, that the bodies should not remain upon the cross on the sabbath day, (for that sabbath day was an high day,) besought Pilate that their legs might be broken, and that they might be taken away.
[32] Then came the soldiers, and brake the legs of the first, and of the other which was crucified with him.
[33] But when they came to Jesus, and saw that he was dead already, they brake not his legs:
Ah! This was not Saturday, the weekly sabbath, it was a high day, the feast of unleavened bread, second of the two part observation.
Luke 23
[50] And, behold, there was a man named Joseph, a counseller; and he was a good man, and a just:
[51] (The same had not consented to the counsel and deed of them;) he was of Arimathaea, a city of the Jews: who also himself waited for the kingdom of God.
[52] This man went unto Pilate, and begged the body of Jesus.
[53] And he took it down, and wrapped it in linen, and laid it in a sepulchre that was hewn in stone, wherein never man before was laid.
[54] And that day was the preparation, and the sabbath drew on.
[55] And the women also, which came with him from Galilee, followed after, and beheld the sepulchre, and how his body was laid.
[56] And they returned, and prepared spices and ointments; and rested the sabbath day according to the commandment.
Thursday at 3, Jesus dies, at sunset, it becomes Friday, they keep the feast, prepare spices for the body, and REST of the Saturday sabbath.
Matt. 28
[1] In the end of the sabbath, as it began to dawn toward the first day of the week, came Mary Magdalene and the other Mary to see the sepulchre.
Mark 16
[1] And when the sabbath was past, Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James, and Salome, had bought sweet spices, that they might come and anoint him.
[2] And very early in the morning the first day of the week, they came unto the sepulchre at the rising of the sun.
Luke 24
[1] Now upon the first day of the week, very early in the morning, they came unto the sepulchre, bringing the spices which they had prepared, and certain others with them.
[2] And they found the stone rolled away from the sepulchre.
[3] And they entered in, and found not the body of the Lord Jesus.
John 20
[1] The first day of the week cometh Mary Magdalene early, when it was yet dark, unto the sepulchre, and seeth the stone taken away from the sepulchre.
Matt. 12
[40] For as Jonas was three days and three nights in the whale's belly; so shall the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.
Jesus said three days and three nights and THAT is what he did! He was in the grave part of Thursday, All of Friday, all of Saturday, and Sunday morning until sometime before sunrise when they went there to add spices.
