Ministry promises hope for leaving homosexual lifestyle
Thursday, October 1, 2015 | Charlie Butts
A summit is on the way to help individuals and parents deal with homosexuals and encourage them with the knowledge that there are former homosexuals who walked away from the lifestyle.
The Safe Exit Summit www.safeexitsummit.org/ is being held this weekend in Washington, DC. Regina Griggs, who heads PFOX (Parents and Friends of Ex-Gays & Gays www.pfox.org/), tells OneNewsNow part of the purpose is to let churches, struggling individuals and parents know that many people have been aided in leaving homosexuality behind.
“The men and women attending the summit have come out of this lifestyle, and they are there to offer hope, answer questions and let the public know ex-gays should be supported for the decision,” she explains.
“All people deserve the right to self-determination and to hear that change indeed is possible. There is help for everyone.”
Parents will be on hand primarily to dialogue with other parents who have received the news that their child has same-gender attractions or suffers from gender confusion.
“We're facing a lot of very difficult and dark times as families,” Griggs says. “We want to help our children. We want them to know the truth. What better way than to come and sit down, listen to these testimonies, hear the stories, and talk to other parents who are experiencing what you are.”
In addition, the Safe Exit Summit will take the issue to the church, urging that pastors and members of their congregations become knowledgeable and better equipped to deal with the subject.
