>>'' Let the redeemed of the Lord say so.''
I have been reading threads here, tears of joy over the Gifts bestowed on so many brothers and sisters here...and I was reading the blessings others have had, the Lord's Hands in their lives, and thought I might share a bit of our relocation here to Mississippi if no one minds...a friend and I were talking and I had it written out... (a bit of caution....I am nothing if not long-winded at times of excitement...)
What a testimony of the Lord walking and directing our life it's
been! We had everything set up to purchase a wonderful house, really
2 homes, on 8 acres, far into the country....my absolute dream. We
signed the papers to initiate the works, but the seller wanted things
from his bank they weren't willing to give and ultimately, he chose
to file bankruptcy on the whole thing -- tying up the house sale and
sending it into foreclosure instead. Our house was already being
sold from under us (landlord's mother passed on and they saw
opportunity to dump it and move on...) and with 8 children and a farm
of animals, house hunting isn't easy...not in the price range we
could work in.
Dewey's brother, Jay, moved here to Mississippi 2 years ago. He
drives truck over-the-road and is rarely home...he had never even
unpacked his few belongings here, just a couch, bed, huge television
and a couple of dishes. We hadn't spoken to him in literally months,
yet he called the day after the house deal fell through. He and
Dewey spoke a bit about our still looking for a place and unsure what
we'd find, etc. and that was it. The next day, Jay calls back and
said we should just move down here and count it a fresh beginning for
the family. Things started falling into place, literally, for us to
move, out of the blue, to Mississippi...we were gifted with money for
a down payment on that house up north and had a cashiers check ready
to return it when the deal fell through...but our friend told us to
use it to get a new start in another home. Dewey was laid off...that
cleared the way for a move out of the area from a job stand point. I
called a couple of places about finding homes for the ponies, goats,
chickens and rabbits....a wonderful family contacted us within an
hour of posting the notice at a local vet....they took ALL of the
animals, even exchanged addresses with our daughters, who were in
tears seeing their ponies leave. We were finding things just too
easy to do...boxes, a U-Haul, homes for the animals, purging our many
years accumulated stuff...it all moved on so smoothly.
Dewey was a union electrician up north, good pay, good benefits....
when the job outlook was good. We have had a trend the past many
years of his only working about 7 months of the year and the rest is
lay-off time. And you never knew when the lay-off was going to hit.
He was called stupid, among other things, for moving here without a
job lined up, for being so irresponsible with his family (us), but he
never thought twice about it. He said as soon as Jay mentioned
moving here, he felt immediate peace over everything. It was the
right thing to do.
Within 8 days of the house deal falling through, we were loaded up
and on our way here to the mid-south region...a place we have never
even visited, knew nothing about, let alone considered moving to. We
basically took over my bil's house -- he is here 1 day out of every
other week or so, mows his yard (he misses mowing...I told him it is
one chore we would gladly relent over to him LOL) We have done
various repairs to his home....our repayment for living here ) The
bills largely remain in his name, but for the phone service
(everything is distance out here...it's rural in every aspect). We
are doing some fix-ups that he had always thought about doing but
hadn't taken time to. My husband pulled his union card from up north
and is no longer pursuing work as a union electrician. Next year, he
will pull his pension and we will reevaluate our status. Perhaps we
will buy this place from his brother...we might use this time to find
a home and land of our own...maybe this is just a landing pad and we
will move on elsewhere to settle...I don't know...but I know who
does.
The Lord has a plan. I don't for one minute believe He opened all
the doors for us to move here, to step out in total faith, just to
abandon us. He has taken us outside our 'box', our comfort zone, but
He has been faithful in showing us which paths to take. He led us to
a church the first few days down here; the U-Haul was still half-
loaded and He brought visitors from a local church directly to our
door -- not an easy task when your drive is nearly 1/2 mile long,
runs between 2 pastures, totally tree and vine-covered, barren
looking without a house in sight the whole way and posted left and
right with No Trespassing and Private Property signs! How they found
us, only the Lord knows for sure...even they weren't altogether
certain how they got here, and had to ask directions to return to
town and the church! It was ALL God.
I'm excited to see where it all takes us, what His plan in all of
this is. It must be great...it has to be, coming from Him. Had
someone told me a few months ago I would be sitting in Mississippi,
mutant-sized Southern bugs, snakes, humidity and all that speaks of
the South, writing to few like-minded sisters of my dramatic move
her, I would have thought them totally berserk ) In all of my dreams
of what makes a perfect home for us, Mississippi, not even ANY state
in the South, entered in. I am a winter gal ) I always envisioned
us moving north, as north as we could get, 'real' winter for a good
portion of the year, lots of snow...that sort of place. Not the high
humid South, with humidity so thick you can practically SEE it
hanging in the air. What a mighty Plan there is in the works here!
I pray I am up to the task before me.

Deanna
