Hello and a blessed New Year to each of you~ I wasn't sure just where to put this so I will stick it here ! Our family are starting prayer notebooks for our new year. My husband had me buy notebooks for each of us. I found the small binder type that take the smaller notebook paper. He and I are setting them up with dividers for each family member. We are writing out our prayers concerns for each of the kids and each other, things we see in the kids that need prayer, etc. Then the kids will each have a notebook to write their own prayer concerns for themselves and their siblings. Each week the kids will write out 5 prayer concerns for themselves to share with all of us at the table and we will add them to our notebooks. My husband has added that he feels they each need to be assigned a sibling to pray for and to do little things for during the week. I thought this might be something some of you would be interested in. Our goal is to make the kids aware of how much prayer can help in situations that come up and to get the kids to think of the others rather than focus on 'what's in it for me'. Hope I stuck this in the right place Bro Ben~ sisterAmy

What a wonderful idea, hope you don't mind if I borrow it for our family.. it sounds like something that might help my children with their prayer time.. especially now that the older ones can write on their own.. I appreciate you posting this.. Thanks.. In Christ's Love, Heather

Sister Amy, that is indeed a great idea. IN the ministry of Reformers Unanimous we keep not only a "prayer notebook" but a log of all our time spent with God throughout the day. This includes our time spent reading the Bible, time spent with God's teachers such as reading books about the Bible, listening to sermons on CD's or tapes and things of that nature. We also track the time we spend encouraging others which is a vital part of the Christian life and also our time spent with Christian counselors. This can be time spent with a Pastor, friend, or any other source that can answer questions we may have about our walk in the Kingdom of God.
This one tool helps to create a dynamic love relationship with God. It is also a wonderful tool to gauge whether or not we continue to do the things God would have us do or if we have fallen away in any particular area. You see, I believe that the problems we face in our lives are actually problems in our relationship with God that are manifested in our lives. The journal helps to track that relationship and is a wonderful tool to see if we continue the way we ought or if we are slacking off.
In Christ, George

Bro George~
Thanks for that wonderful idea! We will add a section to our notebooks for 'time with God'. We are just getting the notebooks set up and will have a family meeting Sunday after church to introduce them to the kids. I am looking forward to this project and we are praying it will really show the kids and us how to pray effectively.
Blessings~ Amy

Sis. Amy, How are those notebooks coming along? That is a great idea!! We use the daily journals that Bro. George was talking about and we just love them. We spend time in our daily Proverb together and it's really a wonderful time! Watching my children learn to walk with the Lord is so great!

Andrea~ the notebooks are going well. We are really getting into the idea now and the kids are beginning to really understand the purpose. I think they thought it was just another 'school project' , but they are learning that it is not school oriented. I am really liking using Bro George's idea and it has really helped me to see just how little time I was spending with Him each day. blessings~ Amy Jett

Hello All~
A blessed Resurrection Day to each one of you!
We have added a tab to our prayer notebooks I thought I would share. We have been having a 'verse of the week'. My husband chooses a verse, we write it down and then ponder on it and write down things the Lord shows us thru that verse. Then we share it on Sundays during lunch.
Blessings~ Sister Amy
