Dear Brothers and Sisters....
I just spoke to dear sister Darlene this evening and she has hurt herself terribly. She fell today and hurt her ankle...she could have torn tendons or ligaments, or even worse broke her ankle. She is in expreme pain and her ankle is swollen. She has not went to the doctor yet, she wants to wait and see if it gets better. She is confined to her recliner, it is to painful to walk or even move. She also has a bad back that is starting to hurt her with all the sitting, so she is in a lot of pain. Lets all keep her in prayers...I will keep you all updated on how she is doing as the days progress.......Thank you Sis Debbie

I just thought I'd jump in and give you an update on Darlene's ankle.
Sunday afternoon, we were having lunch with a church family and she and the children went outside to walk around in the snow. She stepped in some fresh snow and stepped into a rut covered with a level layer of snow. Before she knew it her ankle twisted and she heard a pop followed by intense pain. We put ice on it and gave her some Advil.
The first 24 hours were very unpleasant. Today she has experienced a measure of relief. She still has some swelling. She has been resting for the most part, and using crutches to get around.
For some reason it hurts her knee when she walks around with the crutches. Please pray for her as normal life is interupted with coping with pain. You know how it is...when your foot/ankle hurts, your whole body seems to hurt. We do not think it is broken, but just a bad sprain.
Thank you for your care and prayers.

Dear Brethren,
Thank you for your faithful prayers.
I twisted my poor ankle 6 days ago, I heard it pop...The pop was the joint popping out and then back into place. Ouch! The joint popping out cause tissue damage which therefore causes swelling, also the tendons and ligaments were stretched, that causes much pain ad swelling.
We were eating at our friends house after church, one of the brothers there has had emergency training and he immediately put a whole bag of ice under my elevated foot, he cradled my entire ankle in it, it came up on both sides, then he put a zip lock on top of my ankle too. Boy did that help with the pain. ( it took the edge off) He gave me Advil's too, he told me what to do and what not to do.
After two days I desired heat on it. It never swelled too bad and the bruise was a light pink. (not bad) It would have swelled and bruised much worse if we hadn't put ice on it right away. It best to get ice on an injury within the first 4 min, it was a little over 5 min for me, but it still worked well.
Here is an update:
Yes, it is painful! It just aches now though after 6 days, the swelling is almost gone and I can carefully put weight on it, but still use my crutches ( only to go to the bathroom) I stay in my recliner with my foot elevated. I soak it in a very warm pot of Epsom salt if the pain is too bad ( I stopped taking the Advil after a few days because I do not like all the chemicals in my body.) I also use this very good gel I get from the Dollar General called Blue Ice (boy is that stuff great! I put a sock on my foot after applying it, it feels like it brings healing to my bones. ) I am ready to be back on my feet!
Thank you for praying!
Love, ~ sister Darlene~
