On Saturday we used some of our building to buy a much needed riding lawn mower. It was very old but the old man assured us it was in good working shape. We gave him 225.00 plus our old broke down riding mower (someone gave us to fix and use) we also gave him our Craftsman push mower that the wheel broke off of. He delivered the mower Saturday evening. We did not get to try and mow with it until Monday. It would not even mow! And it started burning! Black smoke then it conked out!...Wow! We had bought a piece of junk. I was so burdened. We need to keep our property where were building mowed. We need a good mower. We had to use some of our much needed building fund to buy the mower.
We went over to the old mans house and told him of our dilemma and he with cool calm expression and speech said you bought it as is. I asked for my money back because he had given us his word that it was a good working sound mower that would do us good. He gave the same cold hearted reply. After much heart felt conversation he said he would come look at it and fix it and if it could not be fixed he would give our money back. I told him I just wanted my money back. The man said it was too late to come Monday evening so he would come on Wednesday because he would be busy on Tuesday the 4th. Alot was discussed and said. Somehow buy the grace of God, I was able to stay sweet and pleasant. I was so frustrated and hurt, I just knew it would show, but my son said I did good. My son never showed it but he was very upset at the way the old man was acting and how he was talking to me. My son could not believe we had bought a lemon. He tried to encourage me on the way home.
I cried and prayed all the way home (a 20 min drive). I cried and prayed after we got home. I could not believe that old man was going to try and keep my money. People can be so cold hearted. And what made it worse is he claims to be a christian, he talked about God and told about how he is a christian, etc....Then he behaves like this, trying to rip off another christian, and so cold hearted about doing it. I was crushed, I was hurt, I was upset that I had believed such a line and been deceived, I was upset that our money was gone and that we still need a riding mower for the property.
I cried out to God to speak to that old mans heart and let him not be able to rest until he gave our money back. I cried out to God asking Him if He would see fit to Bless us and honor us in this great misdeed. I was so broken.
We had been back to the house less than an hour, I was very upset and heart broken sitting on the bed crying and praying. All the sudden my little girl came running through the house screaming someone is here with a truck and trailer. It was dark outside, I could not imagine who it could be. The thought crossed my mind that it was that man, but I quickly dismissed the thought because he most emphatically told me he would not come tonight and he was not going to give my money back unless he could not fix it.
It was him!....I ran outside, Benjamin had gone before me and he said in German Mama go back into the house, later I found out that the mans wife was mad and acting ugly (Benjamin did not want me to have to go through all that) Benjamin helped the man load up the old mower ( Benjamin told us it looks like an 80's model)
The man gave us 225.00 cash and shook Ben's hand and mine and told me that now I can get a good nights rest and sleep well. His wife was mumbling under her breath the whole time.
The old lady sure changed her colors because the night they sold us the lawn mower, we were talking and getting along great, I even filled to the brim the bed of their Mazda pick up truck with sweet corn because we had an abundance of corn, and we wanted to share and be a blessing. She was a real nice lady that evening. People change quickly.
I was so thankful that the Lord honored us in this matter and chose to bless us in such a great and mighty way.
Here is the rest of the story...
The very next day July 4th Ben and Benjamin took our weed eater to a man Benjamin had met that works on lawn mowers. They came back with a great big 16 HP riding lawn mower. It has automatic transmission 7 speed and and the blade has many levels too! The man had got it from an old lady that became too ill to use it. The man wanted 500.00 for it Benjamin offered him 450.00 the man said he hates to take less but he will. Benjamin was going to pay 225.00 of it and us pay 225.00 But when I went to give Benjamin the 225.00 he said he would just take 200.00! The Lord more than doubled our efforts and money and provided us a wonderful Great condition Riding Lawn Mower.
God is able to turn our weeping into joy and bless us beyond imagination!
My Grandma bought us a 6 1/2 x 12 foot double axle trailer yesterday. We found one for 845.00 we signed a Farm Use Exemption and did not have to pay any tax on it. Isn't that a blessing!
Our friend has been so busy (he's a contractor) ,he has not been able to deliver our sand for our basement to go up. Our other friends call often, they are ready and eager to build.
We also found that we need over two thousand more to actually seal and pour the walls and put gravel beside the walls. This is stressful wondering where the money will come from but I have to trust that the Lord will provide every step of the way. It is stretching my faith alot.
Please continue to pray for us.
